Any opinion on the Zeiss 25/2 Distagon?
Thanx!
It is an excellent lens and I plan to get one again. The newer Milvus 25 f/1.4 is slightly better, but is much bigger and about double the price and it of course has the stop faster aperture, but I think the 25 f/2 is a fantastic lens. For mirrorless (well Sony E and Nikon Z mounts anyway) it is worth considering the Loxia 25 f/2.4, which is also a fantastic lens and much smaller. I have had all three and for me the 25 f/2 is the goldilocks of the three, but those are just my preferences. There are good reasons to choose any of them and they are all excellent.

I would also to echo your comment's about the Zeiss 25/2 Distagon. It's my travel companion lens. I should balance real well with a D780 body.

A new ZF.2 25/2 is coming to Rome.
Stay tuned

My ZF.2 25/2 arrived. Following my tests (not shown here), it shows some misalignment I don't like (its effects are visible even at f/4): right side of the frame is softer than the left side.
In the next few days I'll perform more tests and decide whether to return it...

I returned the lens and the shop (in Germany) confirmed they have received it and will proceed with the reimbursement.
I wonder if a "new" Zeiss "Classic" is still available nowadays because it has some problems ... the misalignment issue was even visible at f/8 (a border slightly off-focus and not for DoF reasons). Pity.

So sorry to hear the problems with your copy of the ZF 25/2. It's one of my favorite wide angle prime for me and I'm lucky that my copy (also purchased used) seems pretty good. Below are two older images shooting handheld at f/3.5.
