Hey gang, another question for you (yea, trying again after my last answer was universal: crickets! )
How much of the allure of the N17-35 is the AF? I have an opportunity to purchase one that's been EOS converted but the AF is no longer working. I have a number of MF lenses, so that doesn't bother me much, although they are primes and faster and thus likely easier to focus. Would you be inclined to have your N17-35 and cherish it as much without AF?

If it still has auto aperture, that's a big plus, if not required for that much money. AF is very valuable in a fast moving scene, like at a wedding where this lens would be great, no doubt about it. So it needs a good discount to lose that AF, but not below what an unconverted 17-35 would be IMHO, assuming auto aperture still functioned. For landscapes and slow paced shots, Live view manual focusing on a tripod is preferred for me. It's got that Zeiss 3D nature and is sharp out to the edges. It's an amazing lens.

Hi dog rocket N17-35 does still in my dream WA lens because I need 17 mm plus 21 plus 35 in one unit and all at F/2.8 . No matter how AF work or not if you can live with manual and live view.

Anyone know how much longer Kyocera will be servicing these lenses? I read somewhere they would continue to service them for 10 years since they stopped producing them, does that sound about right? I'm curious where that puts it now. I guess at some point we have to assume that someday these will all be MF lenses when there's no longer any support and the motors eventually give way...
The obvious - there are only 5 electric contact points (on the right side) on a Canon camera body - the Contax "N" 70-200 also has an 8 point contact chip (on the lens left).
