Please give me advice lens filter that suit contax N glass , normally I used heliopan how about B+W nano , thanks
Based on your picture, you've got a nice matching lens hood for your Contax N. If you want the best filter, skip the filter and use the lens hood. For the cases where you really do want a filter (protective for blowing sand or salt spray, or a polarizer/ND for specific effects), if you already have a filter set that works for you, it's fine to stick with that. There's nothing special about Contax N glass that demands a different kind of filter from other lenses --- if you don't have problems from your current Heliopan filters, there's no need to rush out and buy the newest and greatest.
There are Contax filters available on sale (Ebay), sometimes expensive, mine for 24-85mm costs me 140 $( with trans-fee).But when I take pictures , especially macro mode, I take it off.
Aha ....I will order a nano one to compare with my sh-pmc .
thx @ contas
Good choice for contax filter , I just wonder if the newer technology of nano lens coating does a better job about flare and ghost specially on F/1.4 lens
thx @ ManWearPants
thanks for the link , very interesting I'm not mind about brand - any. I will try one Zeta soon.
hi rsrsrs
GB 81 is the only one hood for N24-85 but you can use any 82mm screw-in short flower hood it's cheap and it good for C-pl filter too
Does anyone have any samples of the bokeh of N28-80. I am thinking of getting this as a travel lens. The FL is good, the size and weight better, the macro 1:2 is excellent for the occasional flower shots.
The 2 questions that remains:
(1) Does it have good bokeh?
(2) Which focal length is the 1:2 magnification at?
Hi ManWearPants, I want to share my possessed knowledges on this particular zoom lens, this is my own opinion and am not influenced by anything to write this:
It has all characters of Zeiss optics and bokeh also.I usually take at 80mm and thin DOF it gives painting like patterns, that stuns me everytime. At other FL it quite good but nothing special.Macro 1:2 always at 80mm, never change. As Zeiss optics is made mainly for film it has much higher resolution that Digitals can perceive, the same happens to 28-80mm.I have chances to switch this lens between Canon EF and Sigma SD, I see that Canon has weaker color reproduction than Sigma( Canon R: 50%, Gr: 25%, Bl: 25% while Sigma all 3 colors: 100%)
On the pics, I see Sigma's always better Canon's.I even try the best the Zeiss Makro lens : Apo-Makro-Planar on 5D2, this combo failed in comparison to 28-80mm on SD 9.Here is the role of digital sensor : Foveon.
My 28-80mm now on Sigma reserved for flower shooting only.
I love my 28-80mm and SD so much.I think if I lose it I must buy another 28-80mm and if I lose SD9 I must buy SD1.
