p.2 #1 · My DIY Ring Flash adapter

Not that you want to hear them, but my thoughts are with the time and marginal cost you've already put into this project, you'd have been better off to spend the $50 for the Co-Co. Even at 5 hours on the project, you're paying yourself $10 an hour which may or may not be reasonable for your own time.

More simply; it's going to be tough for you to reach the same light loss levels as some of the big names in the Ringlight business. I believe I head the Ray/Coco loses 2 to 3 stops and the Orbis is something like 1.5. These have been engineered by professionals to be as efficient as possible. You have to figure at some point that all the time you put into the project starts to become not worth it.

Mr_baseball_08,
I understand what you're saying and agree with you. Though the way I justify it is; the time spend on these projects is my hobby time. Instead of watching TV or a movie I enjoy tinkering and inventing. I get great satisfaction while building and creating something new. I took a personality test years ago and was surprised that it pegged me perfect. I am a designer/inventor, so it's in my blood!

I actually figured that was the case! It's always funny to me when someone actually spends MORE money building something on their own than if they went down their local Walmart and bought it there one day. Admittedly, I'm one of these people to an extent. I'm a bit of a woodworker, and I spent more money building my own headboard/bed frame than I would have spent if I had went to Ikea. But I digress.. Needless to say, you did a great job on the RL, and you obviously had a great time doing it. A double win!
