Even thought I've had both, i've also still wondered from time to time about the C/Y vs the FE. I looked forward to having an FF sony and C/Y 35/1.4 at the same time but when it finally happened (A7r) i just felt like something was missing. There was pop but the pictures lacked (to me) the 3D medium format-like feel that I could sometimes get when I had a Leitaxed CY and a 5D. Maybe it was my copy:
I personally journeyed with Contax MM's through Canon 5D2, the A7 and now finally the A7II. This example cross-posted some time ago in the Zeiss thread. It shows several things I like about CY rendering/"3D" - or medium format look. Size reduction courtesy of Flickr which gives some loss in main object sharpness.

This image is lovely! How is ten TAP + 35 CY combo working? Is AF speed good?
Thank you! I have only used the TAP briefly over a few days, but my first impression of this combo is very good. AF is quite fast and precise. Surprisingly fast, I'd say. The TAP itself also has a nice "feel" to it, not overly mechanical noisy, but rather a damped, low frequency sound. Looking forward testing the Rokkor 58/1.2 and other MF lenses I own. Brilliant product, I must say.
