Congrats on your purchase! I've made the same decision last year, sold 35L and bought Zeiss 35/1.4 - no regrets whatsoever!
Thanks. Yes, no regrets, inte ett enda, ei yhtään! Once you can compare and see with your own eyes why you don´t like the L despite the high price and praise on all Canon forums, the decision is very easy. Soooo, now the weather report promises snow/rain with volcanic ash for tomorrow... It never fails.
Thanks Empire, your shots of SE asia are inspirational. Wish we could have met up in OZ. I went to Japan for the hanami (cherry blossom) right after Jeju . Hope to post soon.
man you guys got it good being able to travel to Asia easier lol ... still plenty of Asian countries Id love to visit. Only been to China/HK and Vietnam so far. Vietnam being the most visited, since I was born there afterall

Ahhhhh, you really are in the best location for travelling asia!
I'm sure you will visit Aus again so next time maybe we can catch up
and speaking of shots, I need to stop being lazy and post more from my last trip, and even my trip before that to thailand/laos!
Hey guys... I was just able to pick one of these up for a ridiculous price, and I am over the moon! I am waiting on my C/Y to EOS to get here Saturday delivery and I have a few ?'s. I saw on the Zeiss site that this lens uses an asp. element in the design. Does anyone know which element it is? Also, any reccomendations for a hood that works well on the 5D and 5Dii? I also have an opportunity to get a 25/2.8, 50/1.4, and 85/1.4 from the same person, how do those lenses stack up? I have the 85Lii already so I don't know how useful the 85 would be. I do really like the way the zeiss lenses draw, however... Thanks guys!
Well, I got the 35 1.4 for $300, and it's mint, so I just couldn't pass that up! I don't think a deal like that comes by very often. I prefer primes and I have been looking for a great fast 35 for an enviromental portrait project I want to start. I was down the the 35L and the 35ZE, and this beauty walked out in front of me for a price I just couldn't believe. Needless to say I am quite satisfied that I will gets great results from the C/Y 35 and I can't wait to start!

I don't think you will have any problem selling yours for north of $1000. I was lucky and in the right place at the right time, that is all.

Well I wish ...mine is a bargain grade, so I'm asking well less than $1,000
Well, I received the adapter today. It works great on the 50D but the mirror barely catches at infinity on the 5D. I bought this lens for doing street portraiture so its not that big of a deal, but does anyone know of an adapter that will clear on the 5D? I have the Fotodiox consumer adapter now. Thanks.
I have the C/Y. It BARELY makes contact at infinity, and if i focus down a tiny bit it is fine. I don't really see this as a huge issue as my primary reason for getting this lens was to use it on people wide open or very near it. I am absolutely floored with how this lens renders on my 5D. People seem to pop right out of the image. I believe the Fotodiox adapter I have is 1.4mm? Maybe there are thicker adapters that would clear the mirror completely. Regardless, for what I paid for this lens, not being able to shoot at infinity is a small price to pay for that beautiful 3D look.

P.S. Does anyone have a good metal hood to recommend?
