I've modified mine a bit so it's not covering the entire front of the camera - just think it looks better. Used an Exacto knife and removed about 1/4 inch from the top. This is the "4020" kit, that has a very grippy "shark skin like" texture.
Yeah, looks like they're selling them again - great!
I almost didn't send my GF1 back for replacement because I love the leatherette so much. Luckily the kit "transferred" to the new body without problems - but I may go ahead and order another one in case the adhesive poops out or I get another GF1.
Was the installation difficult? Looks nice in your photos, except a little shiny. How does the covering feel in use? Does it slip? Does it improve the feel of the camera?
Yeah, that's a nice look. But why, oh why, did Olympus put the accessory panel right where you hold the camera? One of the stupidest designs I've ever seen in a camera.
Looks good, it would be sick in brown leather with the mods you made . I question how it may detrimentally affect the finish though, given the adhesive, and how long that adhesive will hold.
I've already removed the leatherette from one GF1 and put it on another. The original GF1 suffered no ill effect from it, and surprisingly the leatherette stuck to the new GF1 with no issues (so far).
I ordered the current kit - which is listed as 8308 pattern - different from yours but all they offer at present. I'll post pics when it arrives...I plan on supplementing with some custom cut pieces of bestskinsever.com
