I like how the E-P1 black leatherette look, with the silver trim at the top and bottom, it looks just like cameras of the past, looks better than the all black E-P2 IMO even though I am a fan of black. But will I order one? Hmmm...
I ordered one of the leather skins from the ebay store that I posted above and it arrived today. I am very happy with the skin and the store.
The skins are hand made to order, and are made from real leather. They say it usually takes between 1-2 weeks before shipping, but mine was ready after 3 days, they posted it to me last Friday, and it arrived today (4 business days) from Korea to Australia. It was well packed.
They also supply a piece that goes over the lens cap for the 17mm pancake lens with the Pen F logo which is a nice touch.
The only problem is I've sold my E-P1 (I'm going to get a E-P2 because I want the viewfinder) so I will have to wait till I get the new camera before I can show you all how it looks on the camera, but I will post more pics when I get my E-P2.
Thanks for posting those pics Sam, I was actually wondering how it would look with a exposed metal bar at the top.
I think I will give this a try too, but go for more exposure at the top- closer to reaching the vertical chrome line on the finger grip. Everyone loves the look of the Panasonic L1, I think this is actually pretty close.
I'm mainly doing this to improve handling (and a little protection as well), but I do like the way it looks.
Beautiful! I didn't know they sold leatherette kits for digital compacts... I love the retro look/feel of it! I'm ordering myself a kit right now for my GF1
I like the skins on the Olys, but have seen one first hand on a GF1 and I think it looks very pretentious; the camera is too..."camcorder-looking" to look good in a rerto dressing. MHO
