p.1 #1 · Hallowmoon + Revision(New)

Late yesterday, I ventured back to the park near my home to capture the last glimpse of color in our area. Unfortunately, I will be away for work during the next three weeks. When I return, it will have disappeared.

As I was on my way out of the park, I noticed the rising moon of Halloween eve.

Here is what it looked like.

Hope you enjoy.

Modified with more contrast (Simon suggestion), and a bit more sharpening.

New Revision:

I have often noticed a degradation of images once I post them to my server. Does anyone else experience this?

Please let me know which one you prefer.

Cheers,
Ed

You captures some beautiful light here Ed. I love the feel of it. Great coloring especially with these bright reds. Comp works great too.

Wonderful shot. I prefer the second one with more detail.

Ed

Beautiful image, sure doesn't look like any deterioration here in my book, beautiful comps with gorgeous colors and reflection and the added bonus of a gorgeous moon rise.

PS yep Mooresville is still growing sister is still there and wife and I went back there in June of this year.

I'm having a laugh at myself Ed. I read your title so quickly I saw "Honeymoon" and when I looked at your post I'm thinking "Ok, where does the wedding fit in here". Self confessed dope!
It's a fine shot. I think you've held the exposure in the shadows really well. Either version suits me

Hello Ed, a beautiful scene and well captured. I prefer the first one. Actually, I would have said less sharpening, and the contrast increase cost you some cloud detail.

Hey Ed,

Very cool work! Simon's suggestion was great, as #2 really looks good. I had thought the fall leaves area was looking muddy in #1, but you sure fixed that in #2. Now the only thing I would do is to layer mask back in the moon from the original, as it got a bit too blown out with your adjustments in #2.

+1 on Jim's suggestion - that combination of the sky from the first and the trees and waters from the second would be a killer image.

Nice work.

The first for me, Ed. I prefer the more subdued light and hues of the evening. JMHO
I absolutely love the shot, btw. Wonderful color and the moon truly adds a delightful touch to the scene.

Thanks to all for great input. It's always appreciated. I am on the road for the next few weeks, and will play around with this when I get back home.

Great image! I would go in between the two or.., when you increase the contrast make that layer a luminosity layer so that the colors don't over saturate. Excellent work.

I am partial to the first one.
The less-sharp look better fits the great pastels, especially in the reflection

I prefer the first image as well.

Moreover, I'd crop out (or clone out) the reflection of the moon, I find the two moons compete for my attention whereas just the one moon makes for a more tranquil image.

That is a beautiful capture. I am also between 1 and 2 for contrast and colours. The second seems a little over the top. I love the mood you caught here.
