My wife and I are looking for a photographer to take some outdoor portraits of us in the next few weeks. We want to get some Christmas cards made, and we haven't had professional pictures taken in several years. Mainly looking for someone in the DFW area, although something near San Antonio could also be worked out.

What kind of photog do you want? Emphasis on a highly-skilled but expensive artist who will guarantee you results that you'll love for the rest of your life? Or a "normal" working pro who is much less expensive (but still is a professional and charges accordingly) and who will do very good work? Or are you on a budget and looking to get the best quality that's still affordable to you?
Some more details may help people recommend a shooter to you. I only know of one guy that I'd recommend with eyes shut and no reservations, but he's in the first category... cost you a lot of money, but you'll never look back and you'll love the results for the rest of your lives. I just don't know if that's what you want...
I would probably say I'm in the middle category, I definitely have an appreciation for the amount of skill that great photographers have (and don't mind paying for it), but I also don't have an unlimited budget. Still, I'd welcome all recommendations .
This man is one of the top (I'd say Top 3) aviation photographers in the world, and also a master of lighting and photography in work of all kinds: architectural, commercial, etc. He may or may not be the kind of shooter you need, but he's definitely got the quality. Check out the "Mustangs Air-to-Air" thread in Still Life to see lots of examples of his work.
I'd guess that Jim is probably too expensive for you, but maybe not... his work would certainly be a great investment IMHO. But since Jim is in the area, he may also be able to better suggest someone to fit you and that would still be a step forward.
