This is irritating me, nikon has disappointed me for quite some time now. We need updates on primes from 20mm to 35mm and on some tele. I know the profit on DX market is better, but seems like they forget to "please" the FX and pro market.
You forget that the "FX and pro market" are already pleased. Professional photographers do not sit and mull over lens ratings for hours on end. They know what works, they know what they want, and they do not sit and complain when camera companies choose to release a consumer lens.
By releasing this lens, Nikon is just confirming that they are not going to forgo DX cameras in order to focus on FX cameras. Admittedly the f3.5 does raise a few question marks, but you need to understand that the 105mm actually stops down when shooting 1:1, and the 60mm lens has a working distance of only 1cm when you shoot 1:1 with the hood on, making ambient light almost useless. By increasing the focal length and adding VR while stopping down the lens, Nikon is putting out a solid lens for use on their smaller SLR bodies.
The price is a little questionable, but Canon currently does not offer anything comparable, so why complain?
