Because the sky has been severely altered/darkened and the lighting foreground on the birds and rock don't match reality if the sky was this dark. It would be interesting to see the out of camera shot with no PP.
What great photos! I have my Canon L primes, with the 5DII and 7D, and getting very good results. I have noticed that under certain conditions, some of the primes exhibit this 3D look, and it is a look that I do strive to capture in my images.
Thanks to the threads on this website, I have ordered the ZE 21 and ZE 100, to fill in gaps. At the moment, I am not looking to replace the L primes, but to augment have the different look in landscapes and portraits. I have the 85L1.2, but I have always preferred around the 105mm length for portraits, such as the Nikkor. So I am looking forward to trying out these great lenses. I have already in my 5DII the ee-S focusing screen, as I find myself marginally adjusting the focus, with wide open f stops. All my lenses I have calibrated with MFA, to work well with the AF, but I am interested in Brainiac method of the shim adjustment of 3 micron, so you can nail the manual focus.
I really enjoy the photos by snowboarder. I think the depth and look is what sold me on the Zeiss look. This may not be the look that other photographers aspire too, but for me, it is a look that truly illustrates photography that I wish to express.
