Megapixels? Great!! My camera phone is 10mpx .... I will go ahead and do same ....
If you could mount a telephoto lens on it, actually a great idea.
This is why some people have adapted P&S cams and video cams with small sensors to telescopes, for excellent reach.
Very good shots you got there Conrad. From a 40d to a 7d would be like effective of 640mm to 1152mm. You should get a cut for every 7d Canon sells after showing your work.

I'm being serious! I think the "pattern" if any, looks better than the noise "pattern" from the 40D. Not just grain quality, but the "look" of it too.
Robert, I think folks are still a bit nervous about noise issues with the 7D. Conrad's images are fantastic, no denying, but they are post Noise Ninja. My hope is that I can take a 10 MP crop from the 7D and have the same, or better, noise characteristics as my 40D's full frame. (Of course, I also want the same per pixel resolution given an ideal capture ). Conrad's images suggest that the 7D may approach that capability.
I have to add that what is becoming clear from all these threads is that just as Canon had to push their technology to produce the 7D, we are going to have to push our skills at using the AF settings for various conditions and using the proper post processing techniques to get the most from this camera.
