I like to shoot abstract as well, so I like the image. Is there any detail in the background though that could answer the question what is all the white? Once that is answered I could go back to enjoying the painterly quality of the leaf. Very nice idea.
Thank-you for your comment. To answer your question, the largely white background is the reflection of the (out of focus) overcast sky in a shallow puddle on our deck. You can barely make out some of the wood grain showing through. I must confess to altering the levels to lighten it up somewhat. The idea is that the water is acting as a mirror, with the leaf protruding through in places.
