Try the Losmandy Universal plate. Mounts to any drive and loads of mounting holes for your camera or other devices. Dovetail not need if your mount bolts to plate.

Thanks for the heads-up on that.

It certainly looks very solid and usable! But please notice the price tag as well.

Yes, the price tag is pretty hefty as well. I think I will likely just go with a manfrotto 410, and start out with wide angle, and short telephotos until I have some idea of what I am doing.

That one is not inexpensive, either, so I would not recommend buying one for this purpose. Unless, of course, you already happen to own one or need it for photographic purposes.

You can do some pretty good wide-field astrophotography with focal lengths 400mm or less. The Horsehead Nebula comes to mind.

hi,
im curious, since the canon 7D is fairly new.
read this trend (first and 3rd post)
http://www.dgrin.com/showthread.php?t=140969&page=16

it is saying the new DIGIC IV applies NR eventhough its turned off, even at RAW.
could it be DPP?

i was planning to get the new canon 7D, and wanted to know if this is true.
it is no good if your RAWs are Cooked no? some stars will be left out
