Hopefully my M9 will be here in a week ... at the top of my dealer's list. Most of my other gear is now gone to afford the upgrade. Such is life chasing the full-frame DRF dragon. Anyway, my two lenses to start will be the 35lux and the CV50/1.1. I'm curious to see how the Nokton does on the M9. As one who does like a little more contrast in my shots, the Nokton is taking a while to get used to.
well he already has the CV so only needs to buy the canon
hmm now that i think of it, an oooold (and im talking age) photography teacher of mine who had a large collection of unusual cameras had a canon 7 with the 50/0.95... perhaps time to pay him a visit
Hehe, then that is solved! :P I'm a sucker for _real_ fast normal lenses on my fullframes, that is why i love the rokkor 58 1.2 on the d700. I would _love_ a 0.95 canon if it is decent. or a 1.1 CV if the canon is not good
Thanks - that looks great. A bit steep at EUR240, BUT AFTER SPENDING $7K on the body it's a snip.
>I am getting slightly sick thinking of how much money I'm handing over tomorrow. I managed to wrestle a Zeiss ZM 21mm C-Biogon for a ripper of a price with the M9. So soon I can argue about microcontrast, "3D-ness" and lifelike rendering as well!
Don't worry about the money - if it doesn't work out for you, you will be able to sell it for a pretty good proportion of your outlay. Fortune favours the brave.
I've always been tempted by the Canon but never have seemed to be in the right place to find one when one was available. That being said, I can imagine posting shots and getting yelled at by a bazillion posters about it being unsharp and out-of-focus ... probably all the more reason to have tried harder to find one.
Not that I've used it, but the Canon 0.95 never did anything for me. I'd rather have the CV 1.1. Or the Noctilux. Or one of the fast Hexanons (60 or 50 1.2). And its silly big.
Plenty of yacking about rubes paying $45k for P65+ MFDBs also ... or fools spending $2 for a bottle of a water when they can get it from a water fountain. But, the "fools" keep lining up.
I won't buy one now, but I'll start saving. Of course, with the full knowledge that by the time I reach $7k, I'll be able to pick up a used one (or new one) at half the cost. Hell, the M10 might be out by that time.
Heh, what about the lower tier seating. I'm ready exercise my one generation behind philosophy and buy a regular M8, and maybe get the frameline upgrade. It ain't no 28M Summicron, but my 28M Elmarit pre-ASPH is pretty much the same thing but a stop slower.
With the M9s full frame and the extra effective stop from the lenses and maybe at least a stop better ISO noise, that's what 3X the price will get you, over a M8.

I found I'm not a big 28mm shooter unless I'm shooting band promo shots in which case it's ideal for group shots (compromise of width and distortion).
The setup I'm *planning* to go for (just lost the 35 lux asph chrome auction I was hoping to win ) is: 21/4.5 C-biogon - I love the fact that it has NO distortion, and is sharp corner to corner at all apertures. 35/1.4 Summilux-asph - It's the best 35, and I really welcome the chance to accurately manual focus a fast wide angle. 50/1.1 Nokton - I already have this lens and it is amazing for the price, one of the real perks of shooting the M system is ridiculously fast 50's, a lot of fun. 90/2 APO-Summicron - I love this lens on my SLR and it's the same formula (yet a smaller filter thread?) on the M system so I look forward to using it on that too!...Show more →
Wow, I look forward to photos from the M9&M35/1.4A combo. This would be the only lens that I would put on the M9 if I could affort this combo. I like its signature from the photos I saw.
