Btw, this thread made me read up what is APO.

Please forgive me for another Sigma 150.

Jonas, there is the Costal Optics 60mm f/4 macro that is an APO lens. I believe burningheart has one. I also believe it is not only APO in the visible spectrum but IR and maybe even ultraviolet as well. It looks like a truly remarkable and unusual lens, however, and it costs to match the unusual specs.

Hi Steve,

I know...
see this thread for some options.

Thanks, /Jonas

As much as I love my SIgma 150/2.8 macro lens, Sigma APO lenses are not really APO.

Sigma's definition is not much weaker than the others', as none of these lenses are "really" APO wide open. Some even have easily noticeable levels of CA and other aberrations. But most of the lenses shown do become technically APO once stopped down somewhat, and that's no mean feat.

As a general rule, put more stock in MTF charts, or spot and ray fan plots if you can get them, than anything that might be subject to a marketing definition.

I hate these threads as much as 200/2 threads. I start pricing lenses I don't need.

Nice shots!

Your 50Lux... reminds me about a post in the "Admirable..." thread - I asked you what version it is. Now I guess it is the E60. (Perhaps I shouldn't have sold mine.).

Correct sir, the ASPH is an M lens. The 50 Lux I have is an E60 ROM lens. I am regrettably parting with it. If I had all the money in the world there isn't a chance I would.

What this lens has showed me is that the shooters with APO lenses are very talanted. Keep em coming!

APO lenses give great black & white tonality as well!

Sir?
Thank you thrice. Lol, maybe I sold my 50Lux E60 too cheap.

you may want to re-state the above differently, once you have a chance to look at my trashes. I think the shooters in these thread are top rated even without APO lens; these lens help to further refine their exceptional work.

I have a few samples of a D700 + Mamiya 200/2.8 APO. I do not have a subscription yet, so I cannot upload. But I do have a set here: flickr

Here are a couple of colour shots from yesterday's shoot with the metal band. This homeless guy was trying to sell them ice, and that white thing on his should is a toilet brush, he uses it to brush his teeth he said.
He also said the air conditioner vent was to keep him cool in summer. Yep.

Wide open shots.
