I removed the ACR noise reduction by changing the exif of all the raw files to 100 iso instead 3200 so every one is at the same level, and I reduced the original picture to the size of the smallest one of the group.
in fact when ACR detects a high iso raw, it applies automatic and impossible to disable noise reduction. In order to avoid this noise reduction system, I had to go through a hex editor, and change the 3200 iso value to 100 and then opened the file in acr, which detect the raw picture as a low iso one.
With that trick, the file opened in acr looks like it was opened with DPP with the noise reduction disabled. I have to do that as long as i don't have DPP 3.7 to open quickly 7D raw files.

Really? Interesting.
Take your uncorrected RAW file, open it in ACR and slide the luminance and color noise reduction tabs all the way down to 0. Save the output as TIFF.
Compare that to your corrected shots (also in TIFF). Is there any difference?

Lots of different opinions here. Obviously, once it's out we'll know real-world performance.
I just got my email this week from Amazon that they're accepting pre-orders, put mine in.
I want to experience the new AF and get a look at the RAW files. If I'm not happy, I can sell it for, probably, a $150 loss, and I'll gladly pay $150 for an unlimited rental. Plus, it could turn out to be a smokin' winner.

Upper Left - This is a full frame camera ... possibly a Nikon D700 or Canon 5D II. Everyone thinking this is a 7D is in for a rude disappointment. Wish it wasn't true because I really would like to upgrade my 50D to a 7D and hoping for a miracle.
Upper Right/Middle Left - These are are 7D candidates. If I had to pick one, it would be the middle left box.
Also, since these samples were resized, the 7D noise that will be in real 7D files when we view them at 100% will probably look worst. My real interest is in ISO 400 - 1600 files ... this is where my 50D most often causes me problems.
upper left is D700 and upper right the resized 7D
middle left 5D mk2, middle right K20D
bottom left D3x, bottom right D300
as for the trick with slider and my exif iso editting, I already did that:
on the left, the 30D with the normal exif, detected as a 3200 iso picture under ACR and on the right the same picture but detected as a 100 iso one, still no sharpening applied:
Tried 7D yesterday.
Not really something I would consider buying.
Of course, I didn't have chance to study it's ISO performance using a decent screen, but compared to 5D MkII side by side it wasn't impressive at all.
Holding it in your hand feels like slightly larger Rebel and it does feel a bit like a toy.
One good thing though is the battery status indicator can be seen when shooting (through viewfinder).
and for the pleasure i just dit the whole thing with the 7D raw files, left row is plain 7D raw detected with the correct iso levels by ACR, and on the right, the raw detected only as 100 iso raws.

I wonder if it is just you or everyone feeling it cos it seems other opinions are just the other way around. "Slightly larger Rebel" "feel like a toy" ? Something tells me you are not having a real opinion to care off.
From what I heard in many forums and sites, the camera is way sturdier than a 50D and better built than the 5D mark II. I would prefer a rather better explained opinion than a toy writen one.
