Does anyone remember what kind of time frame there was for 5d2 and ACR compatibility?

I don't have that time frame but through the years Adobe seems to take from 30-60 days to get a final. Since the latest ACR 5.5 version already had preliminary support (BETA) for the 7D, I would think they are already involved in getting it done and may get it done sooner (maybe...:-)

I was happy with my 50D but the banding-less shots and improved high iso and detail are calling me. It may be worth selling the 50Dand spending another 900... but 1900 that's a different story for the 5Dmkii

Thanks for the link, Pinball_pw. I just checked them out. Conrad did well!

I don't think that there can be a lot of doubt that the 7D can track birds in flight!

Unfortunately, the 7D has its own banding issues.

Here's another BIF thread, with busy backgrounds. According to ruhikant, he set his 7D for single AF point and moderate-slow refocus. Seems pretty successful, and that's how he used his 1d3:

I think your copy of 7D suffers from wide angle focusing issues like mine. My 7D focuses stably and accurately with telephoto lenses, but is a disaster with wide angle lenses (10-22, 17-55 f/2.8). Anyway, it's now at the service center (send in couple of lenses + camera). I hope it can be fixed. Even my poor XSi focuses much more accurately in single shot mode with only the center AF point activated.

Up until now that's the first “problem” I hear about the 7D and that worries me a lot as I have and love the 10-22 and 17-55 IS. Anybody else noticed it?

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

Why two cameras? Why not just get a 10-22?

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

That varies from copy to copy. Just another QC thing...

Mine hardly has any banding and it's been verified by Gabor.

Don't give up yet. It may just be a calibration thing. Another guy has a similar combo and his copy works just fine.

I test and AF MA all of my lenses and keep results in a database with comments (plus all test images). On my 7D, I am getting the highest percentage of accurate focus I have ever seen on any Canon body I have ever owned with those two lenses. My data is on another computer, but the results were in in the 96% - 100% range. My comments for the 17-55 in a table I keep summarizing my results was "astonishing". So .. I don't think that the problem is the lenses or the 7D's ability to focus them.

It is just probably a calibration problem ... hopefully service with fix it.

That is VERY assuring to know. Thanks.

I was walking around the school waiting for VB practice to end today to pick up the kid and ran across a patch of wildflowers. I rarely do any macro photography, but had the 300 F4IS on the camera hoping to see a bird or 2. Instead, I saw these flying critters busily grabbing a snack before winter. The 7D had no problem focusing in the macro range on the flowers, but I didn't try any "B (ee) IF" pics. I will say the more I try macro, the more I want to get some other macro lenses and work at it more. Interesting to see their little world up close. I was very happy with the camera performance.

All hand held, ISO 800 F7.1 and F8. 1/400.
