It's hard to say whether not it has a pop up flash, which can be handy at times, BUT the lens mounted on it clearly says EF-S on it so it pretty much has to be a crop body.
As already mentioned, you can see the flash button on the side of the prism housing, plus I can see the joint line on the housing where the flash pops up from the body.
Rumor has it that the sensor will be APS-H (1.3 CF), and automatically switch to APS-C (1.6 CF) when an EF-S lens is mounted.
I see what appears to be a focus-assist lamp built in, but I have no idea what that protrusion on the grip is.

Maybe they will discard the 17-85 and replace it with the 15-85, which seems to be the case.
yeah, i would imagine that to be so.
edit: and when i think about it, canon seems to have already set a precedent with abundant EF general zoom options:
28-80 (is this or a variant still in production?)
28-105
28-135
24-70
24-105
28-300

This looks legit to me. It gells well with all the other info being leaked. You can see the new on-off switch position under the mode dial and if you look closely there's the M-Fn button close to the shutter button - both features seen on the "leaked" top plate. Even the 7D logo has the right position compared to earlier photos.
As much as people are wishing for a FF body, or even APS-H, it's obviously APS-C, has a popup flash, and probably a gazillion features that will put it well above the price point of the D300s.
I remember the 70-200 f/4 IS launch well, where everyone was hoping for $700 max and it is released at over $1000. After the sticker shock and name calling settled, it became a best seller.
I'll be glad if I'm wrong, but with all the near-pro features this body is likely to have, my guess is that the best buy price leak of roundabout $2500 is probably fairly accurate. We'll see very soon, I guess. ...Show more →
Other than obviously better video what gazillion features puts it well above the d300s. I repeat $1699 US.
Assuming the specs are correct, I will need to get this camera! The auto focus system with the higher frame rate and video a la 5D Mark II make it worth it for me. Christmas in early September (with delivery of the gifts in early November?), fantastic!!

Thanks for posting, these photos look different than what was going around for the poster of the 7D..clearly has a flash pop up button here!

I think this makes sense, especially since the 17-85 seems to be average at best. This of course assumes the 15-85 rectifies some of the 17-85's reported short-comings.
I don't think this means EF-S is oversaturated. I think this rounds out a decent lineup for croppers that don't want to spend on L glass.
15-85 replaces 17-85
18-135 competes with similar Nikon offerings
17-55 is a sharp f2.8 lens which puts in in a different league.
18-55 is needed as the inexpensive kit lens for Rebels.

is it full frame? pop us flash?
yes to the first and no to the second and it will be saweettt!
Pop up flash has got to be the suckiest thing ever.
They left a ton of room to make the lcd even bigger in the future.

I really wish my 5DII had popup flash. I have several Speedlites but often don't carry them and a popup is perfect for fill and snaps on light days.

if that's the case in regards to the sensor, sign me up now (wildlife shooter!). Otherwise, I may hold out a year or so until someone doesn't want their copy anymore

Another true diehard FMer indeed
Rumor also said that 7D will have the Built-in Master flash, which could replace the ST-E2. If it's true, this feature will push this body above $2K, near $3K for a crop body. Yikes!!!
Well, not exactly. Many of us bought the ST-E2 for the gentle near IR AF assist. I suspect the 7D will strobe the popup for AF assist, hence blinding and irritating your subjects...
jeez, i forgot about the 18-200! now that is, for the time being (the 17-85 is still in production and service), at least saturization in the general EF-S zoom range.
Does anybody know if the mirror on APS-H is small enough to fit an EF-S lens. If it hasnt been in the past I cant see how it cam be made so now either.

"19 points cross type AF sensor. Center AF point uses cross plus X type AF sensor"
Meaning it will AF up to F/8....anybody could comment on that?
Not sure why that would follow, Ruhikant?
The 40D (and presumably the 50D) has an X-type (diagonal) sensor in the middle too. From the 40D White Paper:
This camera is provided with the world's first diagonal high-precision cross-type AF at center point with f/2.8 and faster lenses...
Wow, the specs is looking good as a spare cam to my 1D3. It could be a potentially a good sport camera too. This is definitely a direct answer to what the D300s can do. The dual digic 4 processor is Yum Yum to me. Can't wait to see what is installed for the new 1D series camera too.
