"7D is Pro-Crop, Dual DIGIC IV, 18.2 MP CMOS, 8 FPS, 19 All cross + 26 Hidden AF Points, 3 Inch LCD, 24/25/30/60 Frames per sec FHD/HD Movie, Electronic Focus Screen, Vertical & Horizontal Electronic Level-meter, Reveal @ 2nd Sep 2009."

We may have a true pro AF in the 7D

Haha, when I posted the pic clearly said "EF." Looks like it was just changed to EF-S. Just look at the previous versions of the post.

That is why you cannot believe anything that is posted until the official announcement comes out, eh?

I have the same question. Doesn't this indicate the xxD line is at an end?

Who would buy a 50D over this camera?

Apparently many here have never heard of this little thing called a budget

To be fair Lars, Keith Cooper who runs that site very clearly states that all he's going is passing on what "the man in the street" has passed on to him - all just a bit of fun, and not to be taken seriously.

As the saying goes, "don't shoot the messenger..."

That said, "his" rumours are every bit as accurate as everyone else's!

I already explained myself here.

That's true I suppose but I was thinking more along the line of people who's actually after the performance. Pro AF, faster burst, higher ISO and better VF for a few hundred more? Sounds like the better value to me.

Cheaper doesn't necessarily mean better value.

What does Electronic Focus Screen imply?

If true, it means that it probably has grid lines on demand, like the one on the D300s.

And then he ad a few himself to get more hits on his website. And he is not the messenger. If so who does he deliver the message from ?
It's all about getting clicks and making money on the ads. And some of his ads also includes malicious spyware programs

I think we have similar views in all honesty. We both think that AF, IQ and responsiveness are important. I'm merely stating that the 5D doesn't feel rebel like, and he's stating that it's sluggishness feels rebel like to him. Neither one of us is talking past each other.

It may seem to me that I don't feel the speed and responsiveness are important, however I truly do. It's just that at this point in time, I can't go and buy cameras willy nilly to fill up the house. I bought the tools to do the work I intended on doing

Fair enough Robert... I wasn't so much commenting on this particular exchange between you and Skibum5, more on Skibum5's specific question and the 5D/5D2 tirades that turn up on this site so frequently.

FWIW, I agree with you. I too value responsiveness in a camera, but I'm pragmatic enough to aprpreciate what the 5-series offers and am willing to live with some compromises to obtain its other benefits (for now).

If the 7D does have these reported specs and turns out to be an APS-C model, that leaves a very nice slot for the 3D to offer similar shooting performance and responsiveness on a full-frame camera.... (we can hope!).

I think as the DSLR market expands, we can expect that to happen. Canon can then start making profit from volume.

I can see the 15-85 replacing the 17-85 but I'm still stumped by that 18-135mm. Just doesn't make sense to me when the 18-200 is only one year old.

Seriously, there's many on these very forums that seem to feel that it is their duty to berate the 5-Series in general, and sometimes slam those that own and like the 5D and 5D2. Not saying you're doing that, but when people slam others for their conscious buying decisions as if those people have some authority to dictate what others should do with their own money, I can understand the defensiveness.

The 5-series is a great camera. It has its shortcomings as all cameras do, and they're well-known.

all interesting stuff...strange choices on the new lenses

if theyre making a pro quality crop camera, I can't believe they don't develop a 30 or 35.mm 1.4 or 1.8 efs lens

the lack of a 'normal' efs prime lens seems like a gaping hole to me and something that would sell like crazy

Tom do you use ISO 6400? I wouldn't use it on a 5D II. 90% of MY shooting is ISO 100-800 with 90% of that ISO ISO 100-400.

I occasionally use 6400. I've used 3200 a fair amount. Depends on the conditions, of course. I'm of the mind that flash is a distraction sometimes at events so I tend to use it sparingly.

I like the 5D2's 3200, but I'd have kept the 12.8 mp sensor if the 5D's high-ISO performance could have been improved even beyond what the 5D2 offers.

My comparison testing showed about a 2/3 of a stop difference when the equally-exposed images are compared, keeping in mind that the original 5D's ISO settings were 1/6 to 1/3 stop more sensitive than the "standard".

For me, its all about latitude - low noise at the dark end, and plenty of headroom at the bright end of the exposure spectrum.

Significantly bigger than 50D (physically) ? Assuming the control dial is the same size as 50D then it must be, good thing in my opinion, what about yours ?

I also like how the buttons have gone back to the LH side of the LCD a la 30D, I don't like the button layout on the 40D/50D.

What button is to the right of the VF, above the joy stick, on the rear of the camera? And the one directly to the left of the direct print button? Body size wise it looks like the 5DII.
