Yeah, as age creeps up, so does the weight. It takes a phenomenal effort to keep the weight steady, much-less lose a few pounds. I'm resigned to the fact that I'll never been thin again like I was in my 20's when it was so effortless. I don't know about you, but sharing a good meal with friends is one of my favorite pleasures, and while I practice moderation with certain foods, I'm not willing to give up the joy of eating.
Anyone out there testing the PLM? Any shots of the setup? End results?
Are we only going to talk about skinny/fat models and how we are getting old and fat? If so... here's a great link for those of you who would like to carry on with that conversation. http://www.oprah.com/index
The rest... please turn this in to a useful thread with some reviews of the new product/s.

Rob Galbraith sent me some amazing shots. He is doing a complete review very soon. If you know Rob, he doesn't release stuff until he has done a thorough job. It will surely show up here once he gets it online.
I am doing a bunch of shots next week myself. This was posted a day or two ago.

I think these comments are coming from young guys whose body chemistry has yet to change in very cruel ways. Looks like Paul, Michael and I are the old dudes who understand what a short, precious adventure life is, and how quickly the years pass. Youth is truly wasted on the young.
Anyways, I look forward to seeing Rob G's test results.

Agree. I weighed 127 after I left the USMC at 21 and ate anything like a pig. Now, at 73, I fight to stay 155. Part of the fight is Testosterone and - Oh my God - smoking. (I'm now smoking mostly electronics cigarettes that produce no second hand smoke, carbon monoxide or carcinogens).
Body chemistry and hormones invariably add weight and reduce energy as you age. If you don't work at it you'll be obese by 35-40 if you started out normal weight.
Had my first shoot with PLM. Unfortunately it was in a smaller space then I would have liked but I made do. All photographs were one light setups with plm 4-8 feet away depending on shot.
I had to be extremely precise with PLM. It was quite contrasty and worked nicely for this application. You need space to use it properly. I will post a second shoot soon hopefully late tonight of it outdoors on location. This thing is effective...I love love love it. I think i am going to order the white PLM tomorrow with the Front diffuser as well as the silver beauty dish by paul buff and grid (when it comes out.) Between these modifiers I will be able to do everything that I nHad my first shoot with PLM. Unfortunately it was in a smaller space then I would have liked but I made do. I like it a lot. You can see the aiming and beam spread in the color shot. I see it's aimed high so the falloff darkens the legs - for me, this adds to the shot, Could have pushed the light into the PLM into a bit and gotten a wider pattern. Mind you, I'm not suggestion you should have done this, as I like the result you got. This would darken the slightly bright center and cover more area. And please, others, don't say this is a "hotspot" . . . it isn't . . . it's the center of a narrow feathered light beam.
Also, I personally like the PLM reflection in the window - surreal! As you said, if you wanted less contrast and more coverage you could have used the front diffuser or white PLM. But. hey, then it would have a different character.
You know what Paul...when I shot tomorrow..I'm going to push the AB1600 in a bit more....there are some instances where a wider spread of light would have been nice on the shoot... I will try it again!
While this modifier takes a bit of practice...I love it and will recommend the hell out of it to everyone!

Silver beauty dish next!
If you have a room without a lot of ambient, so you can see the modeling light pattern, move the light in and out and see where you get excess darkening in the middle of the pattern, then pull the light out an inch or so. One thing to note: the center darkening is partial a function of the distance to the subject and is more of a problem at close distances.
I have solutions for this, but that involves reshaping the fabric a bit. Easy to do but will involve months to explain it in Chinese and get it done.
