Wow. What an ordeal! Glad you are alright.

Might I suggest taking ColdFX during your recovery. It can quite dramatically boost your immune system. Also, all that sleep can rob you of iron, so a supplement might be a good idea. Of course, always consult your doctor first.

Just talked to her about it. As it happens, all my blood tests show that I have plenty of iron so no need in that area but the idea of Ginseng is one that haven't occurred in any of our minds However, once you stated it, we both decided immediately it's a very good idea and now she's out to buy me some pills.

This was a very useful piece of advice. I thank you deeply for it.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

The aminoacid L-glutamine can do wonders to one's imune system.
It will also boost growth-hormone production, vital to the recovery process.
There are 22 differente types of aminoacids, but of all of those our muscle tissue is 60% glutamine.
A good vitamin-mineral pill once a day also helps, as well as at least 1 gram of vitamin C.
Hope this helps.

as a physician, i would recommend that people not be so irresponsible as to assume to give medical/nutritional advice to yakim. even if you might happen to be (which i doubt) a physician licensed to practice in israel (or any other country for that matter), you would know better than advising someone you haven't examined, in a photography forum.

I thank you for your concern and would like to assure you (and all), that I would not even dream of taking medications and/or nutritional supplements without first consulting my wife (which, as I said, have a vast knowledge about this issue) and my physician. When they both agree (and they almost always do) I know I'm on safe terrain.

I also know that what might be good to one person may not be as good to another and what might be good at specific times may not be as good in others.

And of course, I take extra care now, when I'm still weak from the ordeal and on the recovery path.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

Hi Yakim,

Most excellent to hear you will be fine!

I am wondering how Ginseng has worked for you, and what kind you take, or tried. There are different types such as prepared Red Korean (very warm) and Chinese White (cooler), American (cool), and Russian is an altogether different plant -- each has very different properties. Depending on Traditional Chinese Medical diagnosis, Ginseng can sometimes do more harm than good, and it is important to take the correct type. Not everybody can take Ginseng and benefit; it should be properly prescribed!

Kind Regards,
siriusdogstar

Again I thank you for your efforts to make me heal faster and better. About your question, well, truth must be told that (a) She hasn't found what she was looking for in our local pharmacy and that (b) I don't have the faintest clue about these things.

She is going out tomorrow for another - slightly more remote - pharmacy to hunt for whatever she was looking for.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

I don't know if this is politically (or otherwise) correct in Israel: if I were there I'd seek (perhaps very discreetly) a reputable practitioner of Unani, somtimes referred to as Unani-Tibbi or Tibb-E-Unani.

Just looked what it is as I never heard of it. It seems there is no such practitioner in central Israel (where I am located).

First of all, let me thank you all for your heart warming comments and especially to Kent (RustyBug), for posting this thread.

Second, after all this you may want to hear some detail. Well, I took the most severe case of TB you may imagine. For 2 days I was in intensive care, clinically dead. After that my immune system decided it rested enough and that it's time to kick off. Thus, I regained all vital signs, including – thankfully – consciousness. After that it was another weak (pun

Just want to collectively thank all the PM's and e-mails that I'm getting you. I thanked each in person but I must admit I am really stunned by all these affection responses. It literally bring tears to my eyes.

I love you all.

Eventually they decided on a homeopathic supplement + a multi vitamin which also contains Ginseng. I guess they wanted to cover all grounds.

Going back to work is still a week's away. I'm terrified of the thoughts of the mountains of work just sitting and lurking for me....

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

My medical advice: What helped me recover after a very nasty maxillary sinusitis was placing a purring cat on my head. Every time I lay down, shaky and drowsy with pain killers, she snuggled close to my face and throat and kept me warm. Heroically.

Get well soon, Yakim! And now finally a serious piece of advice: DO NOT get back to work before you feel up to it. You'll only make it worse. I know how hard that is - usually, my hubby has to tell me that when I am sick, I don't practise what I preach!

I don't mind a cat but I insist on a dog and my wife says no-no for both dog and cat.

About work, the doc says to work half days in the first week and then to come to him to see how things progress.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.

Nobody knows, and I mean nobody. The doctors think they have a guess but nothing more than that.

And yes, I am starting to recover but it's a steep hill to climb. However, as even a thousand mile walk starts with one step I just made it and posted something in the WA forum.

Happy shooting,
Yakim.
