Do you know that Sony has a touch screen OLED on their new MP3 player which does not cost substantially more than the ipod? See here I have even played with it myself and I am rather impressed.
So, please.... OLED is NOT a surprise.
The less believable aspect is DIGIC V being THAT much faster. Canon's processing chip has always lagged behind Nikon in terms of speed...

It is to me.
While I must admit I haven't been folowing prices from oled displays, I was under the impression that this technology was still quite expensive.
So after your post, I had to google oled prices to see if you were right.
On the Sonystyle webpage, an 11" tv with a 960 x 540 resolution costs $2.499,99.
It seems that this tecnhology, being in it's early stages, is still fairly more expensive than conventional screens, as expected.
So I will venture to say that probably a 3" OLED screen for a consumer SLR, where price is VERY important, would likely, at this time, put the camera at a price point above what is desirable.

OLED is cheap to produce for small devices. Large devices it's expensive - the technology and manufacturing process isn't there to support larger devices. So it's entirely possible that the 60D or Mk IV will have an OLED display. Not likely, just possible.
OK. Well, the rumored "advances" from digic5 (which seem pretty hard to do in firmware, actually) along with 7.4 FPS, oled display, and 19 point AF just strain credibility TOO much. I think we will see a 1d4 for certain, and that might be the camera with an OLED display. If they put all the rumored goodies into the 60D, they would have to raise the price to at least $2000 for it to make any sense - which would then make it a different market. CR is posting someone's wish list, and all you guys who believe it will once again be deeply disappointed.
If the rumored specs on the 60D turn out to be good and reviews of the camera also come out good, I might finally upgrade from my 30D. I skipped the 40D and 50D because they were not very exciting, when my 30D has a lower pixel density and works just fine (bought it used here on FM). But, now ... 1080p video is tempting and I've rented a 500D this week to try it out. I have it with me, but the stupid thing takes only SD cards so I haven't been to try it out yet (I only have CF cards). But, this weekend, I'll try my hand taking 1080p video on the 500D. If that looks good, then I'll definitely get a 60D. Hope the rumors pan out. It does look too good to be true on a xxD series.
Heck, if those 60D specs are true, I'll pay $2000 if the AF is as good as it should be. I would sell my 1D II if this pans out, and use the 60D for around 12 months, by which time the 1D IV will be available on the SH market, any issues hopefully sorted and prices a lot better than release.
The chances of this happening are slim, buckley's and none.
That may be correct for the xxd series, but I borrowed your theme for the 1 series and 5 series users. I think it's more like:
Product is rumored - raised eyebrows, fear, apprehension, and wondering begin why we need a TV antenna attached to our cameras. FPS reduced to 1.47 FPS to handle new 53MP sensor and Canon says "AF is over rated and not used, so we removed it".
Product is announced - declared by CANON as the Best Camera Ever (some recognize it immediately as Utter Rubbish because it lacks some feature that photographers require and consider essential to completing their work easily, like the ability to focus)
**Product prepares to ship - Canon announces an offensive price increase even after pricing had been vetted and published. Photographers spit on the ground and curse.
Product first ships - First Adopters pay huge and unjustified premium, loudly declare its superiority while praying that they haven't been taken again. Good luck charms sell like crazy as photographers grab at any shred of hope they can find.
A couple weeks later - First Adopters realize their worst fears and hang their heads and cry. Canon errects 3 large 50' statues outside corporate HQ: Hear no evil, see no evil, speak no evil.
A couple months later - Product widely disparaged as Crap; predecessor revered AND PROVED as being vastly superior; Canon denies any problems exist and call people with problems whiners. First Adopters announce they're switching to Nikon
***Six months later - After irrefutable proof of "issues", Canon grudgingly announces a recall
***12 months later - After irrefutable proof of more "issues", Canon grudgingly announces a recall
***18 months later - After irrefutable proof of more "issues", Canon grudgingly announces a recall
Two+ years after introduction - Canon quietly announces another recall and launches feckless marketing plan to increase sales. Mark III product managers wear masks to work to prevent their being recognized.
Two and a half years later - People pray that rumors of replacement will some day be true - much fear, anxiety, and speculation ensue...Show more →

The screen could well be: this
(or at least, that could be the source of the rumor )
I could be totally out to lunch here but I thought Canon was actively developing OLED technology, including investing in new production facilities to make OLED displays. I think Chuck Westfall even mentioned something about this a while ago but I believe he also said it'd be a while before they produce enough of them to get it across their entire product line.
Product is rumoured - much drooling

actually recently it has been
product is rumoured - drooling over great specs
then either:
A. product is announced - specs pale vs. rumors , much screaming
B. product is announced - best cam ever!!
B2 Nikon announces the next day - oh shit! the canon is far behind in every body spec imaginable, much screaming
then
camera released - things settle down people a bit excited again but still wishing for more
then
people have it for a few weeks - they realize that canon forget to allow the lens cap on the new kit lens to detach from the front of the lens, most of the images are covered in large black dots when shot under a red moon, the AF system will only lock onto subjects covered in a completely uniform shade having no detail or contrast or on fridays if shooting cats
then
after half a year - canon admits serious issues and has a recall
then
after half a year - all but the AF issue are fixed
