p.7 #1 · BlackRapid Strap -- Warning!!!

That RRS plate is nice. I'm invested in some manfrotto gear, so that's less of an option for me. But if I had a RRS plate, I'd go that route for sure!

Also, the "debacle" price wasn't so bad for me because I didn't bother with their complete package. I just bought the two connector parts. From there it was only a bucks more for some 1" webbing and 3mm cord.

BTW, this looks like a possibly shorter, slightly less bulky version that could be used as a removable leash. I might give these a try, not sure...

now thats much better then your original setup. still somewhat bulky but much easier to work with overall with your setup. now all you need to do is remove the ConnectR 2 from the equation with something you actually might trust.

Where can you buy these? Can they be purchased without having to buy a complete strap?

Here is the link to those straps I asked about. I currently made these by cutting up some old straps. But I've been trying to figure out how to make this exact setup. Guess I don't have to make it now.

oh what a tangled web we weave. how low does that setup hang? you have completly gone away from the original design concept. introduced more webbing annd other sliders when most are looking for is a simple secondary safety to the ConnectR2. but you did give access to the plate without removing the FastenR or FastenR2 by going completely without and essentially making a second neck strap. i fear though that it is much too long a rig and its operation will suffer. keep it up i love design challenges.

Taynt3d has come up with a better setup and it loses a a few inches too. it stays with the single point concept for a single 1" webbing setup.

for me i'm officially away from the ConnectR2 (and won't be back) and with the clip i do have high confidence it works as needed. if i feel the need for a safety i have my $0.50 worth of climbing cord as backup standing by

I said:
you can cut it as short as you like
so here are measurements:
distance from strap to camera eyelet (don't know the english exact name): from 17,5 cm to 50 cm (a degree of freedom)
with fr2 and cr2 is 20 cm
with 2 UNI-LOOP connectors is 17 cm (with a battery grip don' work)
More: you don't have to pay for fr2+cr2=28 + shipping, have quick disconnect, don't interfere with A-S clamps.

what i'm also saying is that you have essentially created yet another somewhat shorter neck strap below the already sling strap. and yes in doing so you i said you had removed the issue some have with the clamps. but in doing so you have created a more complex system. if others wish to follow they can feel free to do so. it doesnt work for me and of course that is an opinion for what its worth. i decided to stay with the original design unipoint concept since most have it already.

as you shorten the two sides the straps will cross the back diagonally. then you need to decide how much slack to give it. then it hangs lower. go play with it awhile and see how it works for you.

Did anybody receive their replacement yet? I did not and it has been almost 2 weeks, IIRC.

for what is worth i'll stay with original blackrapid design, i've received cr2 (paid in October), test it: it swivel and is rock solid.
But i like so much mix up stuff...

for me it is kind of. i always have my hand on my camera to prevent swing and sway in addition to being ready to shoot. having 2 bodies swinging in the breeze just doesn't make for a fun time. i was shooting with 2 bodies on thursday and just clipped into the shoulder portion of my vest and for the most part it worked. i'd love to see the whirling dervish manouver done with that. someones gonna get hurt

i now have 2 of them that are good but i just like the ITW mash clip better now after being forced to reevaluate what they have done. i have 2 of the mash clips so if i really wish to go gun slingger style i can and with the clip of my choosing. lets all go out and take some pictures and NOT drop our respective cameras using our respective setups. and as the song goes "don't worry, be happy"

Didn't Bresson use the Tri-Strap system?

Seriously... what a customer service nightmare. I will not attach and use with out a safety strap. Being an Operations Manager myself, I preach "Excellence in Reputation" to my team. I would be sending those replacements NEXT DAY.
I asked them to describe what their product testing process involved. No response yet.

I have yet to receive the replacement after getting the email. Has anyone gotten their replacement yet?

My replacement arrived two days ago. Though I still don't see why all the fuss. The older and new hardware work fine. I know and associate with many Black Rapid users, and none of us has had a single problem. I'n beginning to think it's operator error, as far as the failures go...

It's not operator error when a screw just comes loose on its own, and it's not operator error when Black Rapid themselves basically issue a mini recall.

This is too funny!! Is it that you don't understand what's happened, or you simply choose to ignore the facts?

One can only wonder how you'd feel if the product failed and YOUR gear hit the ground...

I can certainly sympathise with any having their rig hit the deck. But with the older hardware, how could it possibly become unattched? It screwed into the base with a locking thumbwheel, and the plastic tube prevented the hook from disengaging, even if at funky angles. I tried it repeatedly before trusting my gear to it. On the newer fasteners, drop a drop of Loctite into the threaded hole, reapply the cap, and never worry about it again. I keep reading of these failures, but everyone that I know of (about 20 users) using the Black Rapid, have not had a single problem with them. Maybe it's my rockclimbing and mechanical background, but when I get a new piece of gear, I immediately inspect it for design flaws or failure points.

You are so right.... i mean really who in there right mind would pay for the most expensive camera strap on the market and actually expect the thing to work.

Sorry but they should have been the one's to inspect these things BEFORE shipping them out to customers! This company is the Chrysler of the camera world.
