Excellent timing on the hand-grenade catching dog, DMB.
Glad you like my DIF. Sure, a bit of practicing is a factor. However, the key is having a good supply of targets which could be approached within the lens FL range.

I'm still learning how to handle it best, and I don't have a dog nor do I care about birds. So, for now, the kids need to suffice as a training subject. The framing in the first sucks but that's where the AF point fell. Given the crappy play structures in our ghetto hood, throwing everything in the background into oblivion is a really nice feature http://kids.jirman.com/2010-01-17/0018-b.jpg http://kids.jirman.com/2010-01-17/0029-b.jpg
Works indoors, too, even though I have to go to the kitchen to get this: http://kids.jirman.com/2009-12-27/0024-b.jpg
Oh well, I'll keep practicing...
