I know this topic has been beat to death but in the "search" there is always some qualifier that reduces the info I am looking for to make my selection.
I want to get an excellant 27-30" monitor for photo editing. I would like it to have "self calibrating" software in it (like the old Sony). But if I have to get calibrating software so be it.
What are you post processing editors using that really makes your printed pixs "pop?"
My video card is a 512 mb ATI Radeonx1950 Crossfire Dual..DVI.
I am presently using a Gateway FPD2485W.
2008-2009 models are preferred. An I prefer the responses to be from users of that model they suggest or have actually viewed photo editing on..
Many Thanks!
Dan
The NEC LCD3090WQXi is 30", Wide Color Gamut and has built in calibration hardware. You can pick one up from Provantage for about $2100. I've had mine about nine months and am very happy with it.

If you think the NEC costs too much, I highly doubt you want to hear from the Eizo users...
If you can offer an opinion on an Eizo as a user or knowledgable person on the dynamics of the color gamut of an Eizo etc, fine please do so otherwise thanks for your speculation( that I do or donot want to hear prices) . 30" monitor was not my only criteria.

Well put Dan. Dan, and all the others posting similiar but qualifer induced posts, is looking for constructive info on users monitors. I will assume price speculation of his needs??... only he can voice and he has. Open mind , Dan's eyes are already open, no eyerolls needed by posters-just dont post, hence his post. Dan does his homework. The NEC is a super fine monitor. The Eizo "CG" Series is superfine also and endorsed by Kodak for Adobe Color reproduction at 96%. Cost is a realtive factor and consideration in any hi end monitor. Price wise I am sure he knows the "CG" series runs about what the 30" NEC does for less size.
Dan may I suggest you contact the following person and tell him I sent you:

YES it is 24" but well worth consideration. I have a close business contact in Gaithersburg for you to call and see all EIZO's in person. The CG241W is widely used in pro photo editing and printing. Just call Mike for references.
Let me elaborate a bit on my 2690. I had a Sony g520(highly regarded and respected) CRT previous to this. The NEC is every bit and more than that monitor and has exceeded all of my expectations. The Spectaview is absolutely painless and I really can't imagine, at this time, what else I could possibly want in a display....for any price.
