Mine came back on two bodies from Jamesburg at 0/disabled which is what I would think is should be. The first body that went to Irvine in Feb was at 1 and -1
You are referring to MA correct?
Yes. I am refering to the MA. Thanks.
Anybody has a different setting after this round of fix?
If you sent it in then call the 866-207-9570 to find out it's repair number. I called yesterday on my MKIII but they had nothing on it then called just now and they said that it was being worked on. Asked for the repair number and got it, looked up the repair number and there was a FedEx tracking number with it. It was shipped 2nd day yesterday So they won't even notify you when they are done. Glad I checked so I can be home to sign for it tomorrow then maybe next week I'll send the 1DsMKIII in
Just follow the tracking number and once it's delivered figure 2-3 days before it's back in your hands. I didn't wait and just called for a shipping label for the other body.
Canon did not send me a return tracking number or repair number or any acknowledgment of even receiving my camera. So I call them and try to find out what the heck is going on (seeing as how it's been 2 weeks now.) Come to find out they shipped the camera out on the 26th, it was delivered on the 30th, SOMEWHERE (can't find the address they shipped to) and also signed for my someone other than myself. I don't recognize the name that's on fedex.com as one of the managers of my apartment complex, and I had no notice in my mailbox of a package delivery.
At this point I'm quite worried. I have to go on a mission to find my camera!
Regarding the shipping back address, it shouldn't be a problem b/c they will have your address in their system as the same address on the shipping label of your sending in with UPS....they even cut the sent in label and put it in the box when they send the camera back to you.
My suggestion: talk with Canon first, get the Fedex tracking #, and talk with Fedex to track it down. If the package was misdelivered or lost, and can't find it, Canon should give you a NEWER replacement Mark III etc.
Abram Sorry to hear that. They had an incorrect address on mine, even though it was correct in their database and the shipping label I sent it in with. Luckily I was tracking it and caught bounce due to an incorrect address right off - picked it up at the Fedex facility.
Well, my body had the orignal firmware and af/submirror fix, has worked great until two weekends shooting motorsports, camera bricked (err99), blew everything out setting wise, updated firmware, cleaned contacts, etc. all the usual suspects...
Checked Canons site, new recall, sooo they sent me a label imediately, I shipped it off last friday and its presently on truck for delivary via fedex.
Hopefully the little guy is back to normal(it had been working great with no signs of issue prior to err99ing) and in my hands tonight. Will post some testing later on and let everyone know how it goes.
Turn around time is great though, I will say that. Nascar is this weekend here in Dallas and I was really hoping to have it back by then and totally didnt expect to.
Mine took 7 total days... 5 days was travel time over the weekend to them. They received it on a Monday and I received it back on Wednesday via FedEx overnight.
My turn-around-time probably a record, since it was within CA: 4 working days door to door including shipping! I shipped mine on Wednesday, they received it on Thursday, completed the work and shipped back on Friday and I received it the following Monday. It was sent to my office and I just came back from an out-of-town trip today.
The service details reads as follows: We have examined the product according to your request, and, it was fournd that adjustment of the AF assembly was incorrect, causing inaccurate auto focus. Electrical adjustmens were carried out on the AF assembly. Other electrical adjustments and inspection and cleaning were carried out.
Got my body back in hand, it came from Irvine (where I shipped it, just to clarify) and was shipped over night, for just under a week turn around time to TX.
My err99 was relating to shutter charge lever, which was replaced along with unspecified other things, electronic adjustments, cleaning, and calbration.
Its no longer a paper weight, no extended warrenty, and appears to be functioning correctly, will test this week at the track for sure though.
There is a newer manager at my apartment complex that signed for the package that I have not met yet. Apparently they got the package 3 days ago and have had it sitting there but didn't put a notice in my mailbox for some reason.
I don't go down to the office unless I have a package or I have to pay rent so I wouldn't have just come across it by chance. I'm just glad it's been found. I was really freaked out when I saw someone's signature that I didn't know. That frightened me quite a bit!
As far as what they did to my camera (besides erase all my settings) all it says on the paperwork is "AF ACCURACY ADJUSTMENT, UPDATE FIRMWARE" I had already updated to 1.2.5 so I that's irrelevant but I didn't get washers or spacers or anything like that. I wonder why some of the MKIIIs need it and some don't. Kind of strange.

Good for you...
Regarding the repair statement on the paper, it's quite standard the way they state the repair, even your FW is the newest version when you sent it in, they still reinstall the FW etc..
About the WASHER thing, when i called them, the tech read the repair record on their computer told me there were WASHER etc involved for the repair, but on my paper work showed nothing..
As long as the camera works, I really don't care what they did

When was your body manufactured? Mine way July 2008 and didn't have any hardware - only adjustments. I called them and it was just adjustment.I wasn't having any focus problems but hadn't used the outer points much yet so sent it in. I'll speculate the hardware (washer, mirror box, etc) are for bodies manufactured prior to some date or with severe AF point issues.

Same with mine ... person on the phone at CPS included "washers and spacers" in their description of the work done, but that was not on the paperwork. Sounds like you either get the whole ball of wax (ie mirror box), or if yours already has the newer one from the last go around, you get some washers and spacers. Perhaps some of the ones repaired more recently already had the spacers etc. Sounds like the new calibration is also a key update.
