Instead of all the posts advising us that you have received your shipping labels, cameras received by Canon Etc, Etc could we have some more feedback from users who have tested their cameras following the fix?
Does anyone have any info re whether bodies produced after a certain date still require the fix?
What are the current highest serial numbers circulating/manufacture dates?

What do you mean
" a trick" ??
Well its simple to understand.... all we know that there is marketing problem with MarkIII and now Canon tries to solve that with that trick.
Unfortunately the key to find the trick is that they do not recall all the cameras back but they prefer to make it optional but this time for all the camera not a series of S/Ns. They are trying to find what did they missed and suddently the found it (did they actually found it who knows) When will be the final one?

That's odd, because before the latest "trick" was announced, pretty much everyone seemed to be happy with the Mark III. Of course there have been some that have never been happy, but for new users, it would be rare to see an AF problem reported, and I really can't remember anyone complaining about the outer AF points.
Actually I have never seen anyone to complaint for accuracy of the outer points of AF and its really very strange but the reason is that most of the people (including me) works with the center point and in some cases expanded. When I first saw the anouncement I check also the periferial points and I didn;t see any difference in AF accuracy. On the other hand It will be very usefull if someone that did noticed that could tell us what excactly did discovered about that and in what lighting circumstances. As here in Greece I do not trust service department I have to be very carefull if I have to send my camera in for Fix. On the other hand my other option is maybe UK.
I did a ring of fire football match yesterday and under the conditions, bright sunshine shinning on targets; ISO 400 1/1600 @ F/5.6 300mm + 1.4x it did pretty well. I've successfully tracked 'the action' and have a few successful 'grab' shots and in most of the action sequences I do have a usable photo.
I could never use ring of fire on my 1DMKIII for anything previously, I believe now I could get a BIF picture if I tried.
I do have 'new' observances though. Sometimes it just does nothing and then suddenly shoots one way and then the other ~ I suppose it was hunting but not the way I've been used to it working ~ it still has a tendency to leave the track.
Overall I'd have a cautious recommendation for it.
I also made the same observations with ring of fire trying to get fish targeting. It seems that they have changed somethin gon 1.2.5 firmware and it works pretty usefull now in AiServo. But I need mor etime to test it
Matt, I called and they have me a repair number. But by that time, they had already finished and shipped it back to me. It arrives back tomorrow -- total time including shipping both ways will end up being 10 days. I'll be eager to see how it works when I get it back, but I never noticed a problem before I sent it it -- always use the center point.

Can anyone report what is the default setting on CFn III - 7 after the fix, 0 or 1?
Mine came back on two bodies from Jamesburg at 0/disabled which is what I would think is should be. The first body that went to Irvine in Feb was at 1 and -1
You are referring to MA correct?
