Mark, these are really really nice! It is the eye of photographers like yourself that inspires the amatuers like me to try to really capture the feel of an event like this. I go to a race and am obsessed with getting images of cars and action. You really capture the feeling of being there! Please post more. I will definitely visit your blog!
BTW-the Logano shot is my fav-but it was a hard choice!
Thanks-Dominic

Gentlemen,

I think a group hug is in order here!

Lets all just have love for one another and chime in with C&C when we can offer up helpful information intended to benefit all.

If you want CC from Mark you need to bring your work to a Chilis.

I've been following two blogs faithfully for months now: Mark's and Chase Jarvis'. Why? Well, beyond the amazing images each of them shoots, mainly because they are giving back to the community in the way of education. Each of theses outstanding photographers has chosen to share their techniques, thought process, and ideas. Sometimes those ideas just don't work out and other times they result in brilliant images. However, even when those images don't work, they're not afraid to say so. But the biggest contribution both Mark and Chase make is to show how to be willing to step outside of the box, look at the world differently, and take the chance of recording that vision without worrying about the outcome.

I for one don't need to know that Mark is providing one-on-one C&C here in the FM forums to appreciate what he is doing. His form of participation comes in the way of putting it all out there for everyone to see and read. To me that is much more valuable to my creative process than any comments or critiques he could make on a single image of mine.

I personally don't think that it is my job to question how each of us chooses to contribute to this community. There are no set rules for doing so. I think that it's just a bit short-sighted to judge someone for their method of participation. I would agree with Carl that Mark seems to be an incredibly busy photographer and always appreciated anything contribution he could make to FM. But now, even that is gone although I will still follow his blog.

My understanding is that if you have specific questions for Mark, you can simply email him directly. If you want a thorough and honest critique of your images, get an editor.

And this forum is all the poorer for it.

Some people just don't realise when they are on a good thing.

Mark: Please don't take msauk's views as representative of the whole of FM. I would suspect it's quite to the contrary.

msauk: I have found Mark's blog to be helpful for the pictures alone. His commentary on them adds to that in terms of what a professional photographer has to go through to get the shots that a lot of the public doesn't get to see. Finally, I have found Mark to be quite helpful in answering any questions presented to him.

I have always been one of Mark's biggest fans. Any time I see his name I go straight to his post. I enjoy his work and dream that someday I might be half as good as him. I do learn things just from looking at his photos and he does answer questions when he is asked. I have been to his blog numerous times and they are extremely helpful to me.

Mark: 99.999% of us enjoy you here and what you do. Don't let one guy ruin that for us.

Mark, I enjoy ALL your photos. I live in Orlando but have never been to the speedway. I like the different perspectives on your shots. Like in the second photo...I never knew the seats were multicolored.

Sorry if I am being to honest here. Just don't like to see a spam post without any other contribution to the site to help other photographers.

Wow... a little out of line.

Great images... and a lot to be learned from looking at them. Ideas. You don't have to copy them... but you file them in your mind. Graphic Designers call it a cookbook or a clip file. We get ideas and inspiration from others.

On another note, did you look at the EXIF data in these images? Does it not mean something to you that the photographer left the EXIF data intact?

The saying "choosy beggar" comes to mind here.

Sorry for butting in... but I really thought your comment was out of line.
