for the birth of my second son Isaac, i decided to shoot it as a documentary, beginning when we walked into the hospital to be induced through the following days in the hospital and at home (approximately 4 days)-my goal was to tell the story, not just the highlights, which meant taking pictures when i normally wouldn't have before (i.e., during a contraction or during the epidural, etc)
none of these shots were contrived or posed, they were taken as they happened, when they happened and with ambient/available lighting-these are in the order as they actually occurred (to the best of my recollection)-your thoughts and feedback are always welcome
Superb. Wow, wow, wow. This gave me goose bumps Daniel. I love em and can only say that I'm thoroughly jealous I didn't do the job you did in capturing my owns son's birth. these all get high marks my friend.
My fave is 9. Life mag stuff right there. I'm equally impressed that you don't feel the need to go extreme DOF on all the work. It's very much the buzz in our day and too easy to use sometimes. Such a great balance between wide and narrow. Well chose bud.
I assume these are gonna be in a story book, yeah?
@ sam: no worries-never too late to have one more, right?
@sam and chuck: yep, will print some of these and definitely have a birth story book in the works
@ lorriman: on 22, my issue was that there was no light in the room-exposure was iso 3200 f/1.4 1/10th second-also had to manually focus, i'm sure part of it was due to that
