>Oly hood for the 21/3.5
Unfortunately these are at least as rare as the Oly 18 hood, in my experience! If anyone has one to sell, I've been looking for a while for a 21/3.5 hood (aka 35/2.8 shift hood).

Took some test shots in the backyard using the Oly 21/3.5 hood...really can't tell the difference between the non-hooded and hooded shots, and any needed EC didn't vary from what would normally be expected, so it looks like a winner. Since this hood sits back a bit as it clamps to the outside of the lens barrel, it may be just enough to prevent vignetting that you'd get if it had threaded onto the lens instead. Here are the comparison shots taken at f/3.5, f/5.6, f/8 and f/11...nothing fancy, and no PP other than minor sharpening:
EDIT: Well, looking a little closer, I now see a bit of vignetting in the lower right corner of the hooded shots. Damn...don't know how I missed that earlier. Looks like its back to the drawing board (or just shoot the lens naked...the lens element shouldn't need any more care than my old fisheye).

The corners of the 21 hood will show more as it's more stopped down, the wider-open ones look good, it's not until f11 that it seems to be an issue. still, could be a show-stopper I suppose. besides, bit of a crime to hack up a rare hood like 21/3.5 ;-)

I agree...definitely no plans to place the hood under the knife Depending on the subject matter, the tiny bit of vignetting may not be too difficult to deal with. Unless I come across an Oly 49-72 hood, I'll just shoot it naked. There is some natural vignetting with the lens anyway, so what the hay...

as predicted, the shameless flogger limeridge1997 is pimping the one he just bought for $18 on epay for $99. (nice markup, scumbag!)

FWIW.
He may be a shameless scumbag, but someone nevertheless will end up paying the price. Personally, I'll pass...I get more satisfaction out of tinkering with something until it works.

Nice shots guys. My lovely little Zuiko has been resting for too long!
Regarding vignetting with filters ...has anyone tried a Cokin or a Lee holders on the 18/3.5 Zuiko? I was planning on getting a Lee system but the local photo store didn't have a 72mm thread in stock. I hesitate to spend on it unless I can try it on and am absolutely sure it will not vignette (or give me black corners). I did try a 77mm one on a step-up ring and the holder gave black corners (49-72->72-77 pushes the holder too far out).

Hranar! Welcome!
Wayne! Thank you! I do too... It was taken at Strandvägen in Stockholm. One of the most expensive places in Sweden to live. Stockholm is a true beauty.
