Ah the wonderful end of year post.

Glad to see everyone is behaving so far...i will continue the trend ;-)

My humble offering....wicked tough to choose. This was an experiment that worked out pretty well the first time. Woohoo

Although I have a few great landscape-centric trips lined up, none of them will happen before the end of 2008. I think this is my favourite from this year:

An eventful year for me this year, the first few months were out photography wise due to a heart attack and resulting triple bypass , but my holiday in May produced this:

http://simonb.zenfolio.com/img/v3/p68361538.jpg

"The SkyWalk on Langkawi Island, Malaysia"

It was hard selecting only one shot, especially narrowing it down to landscapes only, but that was my choice. Hope you like it too. The other images in this thread are awesome.

Thanks to all on these forums for the inspiration, the ideas and the lessons. My lesson to you, value your life, it's the only one you have!

Some great shots here guys, I'll ahve to keep an eye on this thread!

This is without a shadow of a doubt my favourite. Hopefully I will see another rainbow like this some day. I chased this one for a while in the car and pulled over where I saw a goup of trees. A quick dash though a bog and I was in position just as the rainbow became incredible.

Best? I don't know. This image is frankly derivative of some iconic images we have all seen. But it was wonderful to get out there at dawn and have the chance to make this picture -- The Washerwoman from Mesa Arch.

Interesting exercise choosing from your 2008 shots. I realized that I donīt have a lot of landscapes from 2008. Here's my choice -->

Yowsers! Some truly amazing shots in this thread. I always swing by this time of year to see all the pretty pictures. Well, perhaps not up to the caliber of a lot of the posts here, but I'll toss mine in. Actually just taken a week or so ago out in Death Valley - and with a point and shoot no less (well an LX3 with a WA adapter):

These are all beautiful...What I would really like is if you could each put a description of how you got the shot...ie filters, PP etc.

Keen to learn :-) 2009 will be my landscape year!!

Thanks guys, truly inspiring work.

Taken on the John Muir Trail in July 2008. We were hiking away from Tyndall Creek where we stayed for the night and making our way towards Forester Pass. I believe this water source is part of the outlet for Lake S. America.

Such a great display, as always. It was great to see many familiar shots again. I've immediately recognized Jeffrey's safari shot, Ute's forest and John's DV shot in the very first post (and of course many other shots).

It was tough to pick ONE shot I'd consider my favorite. After deciding between the two finalists, I picked the one I took back in march and which recieved some nice feedback on FM. The light, the scene itself and color palete were pretty awesome so that's why it's my favorite.

Thanks to all of you for your great images posted here and throughout the year. Seems like a perfect occasion to post my first image on this forum. This is my favorite of 2008.

I had to ho and hum for a while over this, there are about 5 shots that really stand out to me as my best this year - or rather my best work to date - but in the end, DonH makes a very good point. There is simply no competition to the sunset of December 5th, so this one is the winner:
