ONE PHOTO that is your absolute favorite of 2008 !!!
Well, it's that time of year. Other forums have started a thread like this, so I thought we better get the wheels rolling !!
Post only ONE photo !! Not TWO or THREE = try to pick YOUR favorite. Not easy but I hope you all can play along nicely......
Mine is from January when I traveled with Kevin Pieper, Phil Kuglin and Dave Forster to Death Valley. We detoured for the 2nd half of the week 700 miles away to the Grand Canyon due to a huge storm that was about to take over the Eastern Sierras (our original 2nd destination after Death Valley). If you have been to Death Valley, you know that clouds are rare so this morning was very special to me to finally be in a great spot when everything came together. This shot also reminds me of the fun times we had on this trip.
Sweet shot! That one really does come together so well!
As to picking out just one shot, ughh that's hard. So I will just go with one of my recent shots that is on my very favorite list! This one is from Yellowstone this last fall, and of the Great Fountain Geyser with White Dome Geyser erupting in the background.
Cracker Lake, Glacier National Park
Velvia 100 4x5, Rodenstock 90mm
This is fairly strenuous hike (when carrying 50-70 lb loads), but well worth the result. The lake is beautiful, but watch out for the marmots at the camping sites - they will literally chew the leather right off your boots.
Great shot John and a nice thread. I change my mind so frequently that it's really hard to pick just one. This is my current favorite but I'm sure that I'll pick another next week.
Tough decision, but I feel pretty comfortable with this one. The day I took it was quite rough. Low temperature, harsh wind, just the way I love seeing the Baltic Sea. I also remember sitting in the dunes, sharing some beer with a friend and fellow photographer.
Thanks. This was taken on a 40D with a Tokina 12-24, from memory it was set to 14mm. I think the Toke is one of the best lenses I have used in 30 years photography! And one of the cheapest.
