If you are mounting a heavy monolight inside the Octa you might want to beef up the stand adjustment mount by replacing the stock adjustment knob with a D200 knuckle. It does require drilling the inner hole to a slightly larger diameter to accomodate the D200 bolt, but it is a substantial improvement and ROCK solid.
Since I use Elinchrom heads I have not used the adaptor. It would seem fairly straight forward though from the look of it.
I would try inserting the adaptor post into the stand mount (5/8" baby receiver) on the Hensel head and turn the adaptor post directly out towards the front of the light. Then with the Octa fully open, move the light with the adaptor post in towards the stock mounting ring. Once the face of the Hensel light gets near where the Elinchrom light would normally be mounted, you should see where the adaptor post plate will mount on the back plate. But before you actually attach the post you might want to double check with your dealer or a rental house to make sure that is in fact the correct mount position, as there may be 2 or more options on the back plate. Hopefully the adaptor post came with the appropriate mounting hardware.
I wouldn't hesitate to email Elinchrom directly for instructions either.
You might also consider posting your findings here for others as a future reference. There doesn't seem to be anything coming up on a Google search.
The adapter for the large EL Octa will NOT work with any regular softboxes! Inside the EL Octa, the light faces backwards and the light is then bounced off the reflection cloth and through the diffusers. In a regular softbox the light faces forward, so to mount an Elinchrom softbox on a Hensel strobe you will need some sort of speed ring adapter to take you from a Hensel mount to an Elinchrom mount, then comes the Deep Octa on top of that.

uh oh...I'm confused now. let me get all this straight, he's referring to an elinchrom octa (meaning mini/midi/full-size), and not the deep throat (somehow I had been operating under the illusion that we were referrring to the deep throat here).
So do ALL elinchrom softboxes/octas/deepthroat/etc have the light fire to the rear (away from the model) of the light modifier?
I think my error in thinking comes from me assuming that that wacky adapter listed in OP's first post must have been the solution, as the deep throat is a relatively weird softbox.
So what IS that adapter for then? If not the deep throat, then what?
Can you expand on what I would need to mount a deep throat to my hensel integra 500. Not sure whether what I need exists, or whether I'd need to make it or have it fabricated. Or do I just need a standard speedring for Hensel Octa's, and the light just mounts to the rear of the deep thorat? I'm really hoping to be able to add the deep throat to my kit...I'm sure if I could see some pictures of the rear of the thing I would be asking such ridiculous questions.
If you feel this is too off topic, feel free to send me a PM, or start a new thread. (or recommend that I do so).

He's referring to the 190cm EL Octa, the largest one in the line-up, the Lightbank (or Beauty Light, as they are sometimes called).

Nope, only the Lightbanks do - the EL Octa, EL Recta, etc. You can find them under "Indirect Softlites" on the www.elinchrom.com web page.
I am not sure what you will need to adapt your Hensel, I had a quick look on B&H website but couldn't find anything. That does not mean it does not exist, of course, it just means that I'm in a hurry. I will post here if I find anything later.
Thanks for chiming in again rudi....I guess my only real question then is can I just use the deep throat with a standard hensel octa speedring? (just like how I mount my Chimera strip box to a hensel light)
hmmm....I wonder if that is only referring to octa's (such as the one originally being discussed in this thread)
ok...this is making this thread stray too far from the OP's intent (which is enitrely my fault) and I'd like to get more/further opinions and input, so I'm going to create a separate thread to try and answer this question.

Nope, it definitely is not! The EL Octa can be easily adapted, because any brand of light can be mounted by its stand attachment (using the adapter mentioned in the first post in this thread). You don't have that kind of latitude with regular softboxes...
