The adapter for the large EL Octa will NOT work with any regular softboxes! Inside the EL Octa, the light faces backwards and the light is then bounced off the reflection cloth and through the diffusers. In a regular softbox the light faces forward, so to mount an Elinchrom softbox on a Hensel strobe you will need some sort of speed ring adapter to take you from a Hensel mount to an Elinchrom mount, then comes the Deep Octa on top of that.
uh oh...I\'m confused now. let me get all this straight, he\'s referring to an elinchrom octa (meaning mini/midi/full-size), and not the deep throat (somehow I had been operating under the illusion that we were referrring to the deep throat here).
So do ALL elinchrom softboxes/octas/deepthroat/etc have the light fire to the rear (away from the model) of the light modifier? I guess I thought that was specific to the deep throat.
I think my error in thinking comes from me assuming that that wacky adapter listed in OP\'s first post must have been the solution, as the deep throat is a relatively different softbox.
So what IS that adapter for then? If not the deep throat, then what?
Can you expand on what I would need to mount a deep throat to my hensel integra 500. Not sure whether what I need exists, or whether I\'d need to make it or have it fabricated. I\'m really hoping to be able to add the deep throat to my kit...
If you feel this is too off topic, feel free to send me a PM, or start a new thread. (or recommend that I do so).
as always, thanks ahead of time!
