My CZ 28/2.8 is my absolute go-to lens for panoramas (in addition to my CZ 85/2.8 for distant panoramas, like bridges, etc.).

I would like to throw in a second and very light 3-lens weight option... based on a recent trip.....this is the most complete kit I have traveled with in a long time now and felt glad it was rather easy to tote around....

Lightest I could live w/, 3 lenses (5D2):
OM 28/3.5
CZ 45/2.8 or EF 50/1.4 for low light & AF
CZ 85/2.8

The travel kit I realistically carry (5D2):
OM 21/3.5
CZ 28/2.8
CZ 50/1.7
CZ 85/2.8
EF 135L/2 + 1.4x TC

Hard to leave home w/o the FD 85L/1.2 though ...

Traveling is what I do. I was all set to go ahead and upgrade (this May) from my crop travel kit (30D, backup 400D, 10-22, 17-55, 50 1.4, and 70-300) to a FF kit (5Dii, backup 7D, 17-40, 24-105, 50 1.4, perhaps a 70-200 F4 IS or a 100 F2) when I got to thinking about micro 4/3rds.

I am still leaning towards upgrading to the kit above, but I just checked weight. A GH-1, a GF-1, a 7-14, 14-140, and 20 F 1.7 are about 3800$ combined, weight about 3lbs and 11 ounces, and give me range from 14-140 plus one prime with shallow DOF.

The above kit without a telephoto zoom (just the 17-40, 24-105, and 50 1.4) would weigh 6lbs 11 ounces, and only reach from 17-165 (including FF + crop range). Upgrading while keeping the 50 and 70-300 would still cost me about 6,000$.

I completely get the great DOF with canon FF, the sensor size, the AF, the low light capability, but as a traveler also, the small size and light weight, and relative inexpensiveness of the system (plus I think I would irritate my GF more with less stops to change lenses or get it just right) makes it worth looking at.

Instead of trekking with the 17-40 on the 5Dii and the 24-105 on the 7D (or walking around with the 24-105 on the 5Dii), I would trek with the 7-14 on the GF-1 and the 14-140 on the GH-1. For walking around, I could have the 14-140 on the GH1 and the 20 on the GF-1.

Just thinking and thought I would throw it out there.

May pickup a Contax 85/1.4 or Zuiko 100/2.8 depending on how much additional reach I may need

This sounds great, although I'd take a CV40 instead of the N45, that little bit of speed would come to good use.

Hmm this is such a tough thing to decide on. Realistically I will probably take 5 lenses with me since zuikos are so dang small and 3 is like 1 of any other brand lens.

Up untill last week my general 3-lens travel kit was
OM 21/3.5 or 24/2.8
OM 28/3.5 or CZ 35/1.4
EF 50/1.8 or EF 85/1.8

In reality I'd never go overseas without my 70-200/4L and I would probably have carried the Tam 28-75 as well for an all-in-one walkaround.

Since then though I've bought a Tam 17/3.5, a CV 40/2 and will be selling a Tam 28-75 to get an EF 28-70 3.5-4.5.Things are getting complicated!

I shoot a wide variety of subject matter so its really hard to cut down to 3.
I can imagine myself possibly making do with one of these kits (depending on destination)

21/24, 28-70, 70-200
21/24, 50, 85
24, 40, 85/70-200

But as I said, in actual fact it's more likely to be 5 lenses, such as

17, 24, 35 + zooms
21, 28, 58 + zooms

This wide-angle FOV comparison I shot might be helpful to anyone else in the same boat

My ideal travel kit is probably just a 5D+24-105L. I would prefer to make my life simple if it is a vacation. If I gotta have 3 lenses I'd add a 17-40L and a 70-200L f/4 IS. For a shooting trip it would of course be different.

But with what I currently own, I'd probably take the 5D + 20/1.8, 50/1.4 and 150/2.8. I'd also bring a flash and a tripod.

If I am really lazy, I'd bring an E-P1+14-42 and a table top tripod. If I gotta have 2 more lenses, it'd be my Nikkor 24/2.8 AI and 55/2.8 micro AIS. Though my m43 dream kit would be Panasonic 14/2.8, 20/1.7 and 45/2.8. Fast, compact, and really tiny!

Yes you can mount any lens but using an extention of 65 mm + would give focus inside the lens in some cases. Like with the 18/3.5...

Well, within a few minutes Iīm placing an order for a CY35-70. Perhaps it will replace my dear loved 50L in my latest light package: ZE21, 50L, 135L + 450D.

If BIFs are on the menu, the 400L5.6 will complete the arsenal. If BIF (birds/butterflies in forrest) are more likely, the 300L4IS is my choise.

As a strong contender in the Alternative class, I would use the Zeiss 250mm Superachromat. But the extremely delicate focus canīt be put to good use without live view on a heavy tripod.

Was digging deeper to find out what lovely lens you have on that huge camera house and found you mystified, for once. Though I can find rather alternated methods to prolong the focal lenght of a lens with my feet, I find it easier just to crop.

That Sonnar is now on my must have list! Well, with stiff help from an other thread.

Itīs rather funny, actually. In all other forums most of the threads are about how awful the lenses are, especially Canonīs Līs. Here, OTOH, most lenses are appreciated, at least at some f-values. Nice indeed!
