I am getting ready to send in my 1DS Mark II for a shutter adjustment or replacement (depending on what the service center determines) and am curious if any of you know what the estimated cost will be for each? My pics above the shutter speed of 1/500th of a second have a bright line on the edge as if the shutter is sticking.
I bought a high shutter/actuation count 1Ds Mark II earlier in the year and the first thing I did was to send it in to Canon Service to have it checked out. There was some brassing on the hot shoe, and an eyepiece unit that wouldn't close all the way. The service log that came back said they replaced the eyepiece unit, shutter unit, hot shoe, and charge unit. Total charge was $270.

Hope that helps,
Thanks! Just what I was hoping for... not too expensive. Just hope the turn around time isn't too long.
I am going to send mine in pretty soon as well. I have heard it will be in the neighborhood of $300.00 or so. Not too expensive given the quality of camera the 1Ds II is.
So, once you have a new shutter unit, is it like starting with a new camera from the shutter stand point? you can shoot another 300K or so because then I don't think it's so bad to buy one of the professional models with a high count number of actuations...300 for a "born again" 1DMX is not so bad right? or am I missing something?
