I just won one for $375! Not the best price, but I bet the price only goes up from what I'm reading about the lens. I haven't decided if I will do the conversion myself or not. That and I still have to do the 5D mirror shave.
So excited!

Hi Eric,
You outbid me; congrats! I ended up buying a Voigtlander Nokton SLII 58mm f/1.4 for less than that and got cashback in addition. Yup, I know it is not f/1.2 but I have other lenses that are that fast....
I have been keeping an eye on the one from Denmark.... It just closed for $581.00 plus $29.00 shipping. And that under the current economic conditions. Wow! It starts to look like Zeiss/Leica lenses from the beginning of the alternative days.

There was also a "FAULTY" one from England, that sold for "only" $285. The "fault" was the reported dust between elements and slightly damaged filter thread.
There is a very clean one going on as we speak; it will end in 6 days plus some hours from now. Based on the pictures alone, it seems to be even mint; I have never seen any this clean before. Well, I wouldn't mind going for this one but I wonder how much this one will fetch.....
That's crazy! Now I feel like a fool because I have seen and passed on two BIN 58 1.2's in great condition over the past few weeks, both of which were around $350. Note to self, buy Rokkors!
What I have noticed with some of these ebay Rokkor ads is the verbiage describing how easy it is to mount an adapter to make them work with other cameras.
In this case: "This lens is equipped with a minolta mount which will fit all brands that support the minolta mount or an adapter can be purchased to mount this camera to your lens making it virtually able to mount to any camera."
AGeoJO - I saw that one. Nice pics, yes. I bought one nearly identical to that, but in better shape (yes! believe it...) for $373 a couple months back.
Nice pics drive the prices up, I think. That one will bring good $.
$581 is an anomaly probably. but still they are going up.
$350 for a nice one is a good price @ this point.
As these prices continue, more will come out of the woodwork to be auctioned, some by small time junk dealer/yardsale vulture types, who don't know much about them. Be prepared for issues with those types of sellers. They just see $.
The smart money will look for these on places other than Ebay for the best deals/prices.
Hans not a bad price on that one, however it and the one I mentioned both look fairly worn/used/dirty, so hard to tell quality for sure. But, if the price is right it's worth a try I suppose.
I bid on that one, but I just received one around the same serial#. That is a very high, recent serial #, and the last version with the latest coatings that Minolta progressively applied thru the mark.
I have been working on a new method of EOS lens conversion for those Rokkor lenses that have the silver spacer, between the back and lens body that attaches with the 4 screws thru the spacer. So far, I have identified the 58/1.2, 58/1.4, 85/1.7, some 135mm lenses.
Basically, I have taken a good quality chromed bronze M42-EOS adapter (left, bottom) and cut it down to fit into the silver original spacer (left, top). I have duplicated the silver spacer (top, center), for no good reason, but the 2 piece assembly is shown bottom right.
The advantages of this assembly, is the M42-EOS adapter, with its ideal fit onto the camera, fits into the original silver spacer or my custom spacer, which simply gets screwed to the lens body with the original 4 screws. Concentricity is maintained, the register difference is accounted for (mostly), and it is easy. As always, infinity focus should be done with the lens adjustment screws. http://farm4.static.flickr.com/3005/3051051891_6c8c8c577c_o.jpg ...Show more →
Jim,
If you could AF chip that adapter, I would buy them from you! They look OEM quality or better... I almost bought your 50mm just for the adapter, but I need AF confirmation...
