Well, maybe not problems with the camera but with my macbook pro. When i connect my 1Dmk2, sometimes i can downloada files, sometimes not. Sometimes lightroom hangs sometimes not.
I did buy used and didnt get a software CD, should i check the internet for drivers?
I hadnt had any problems with my previous cameras.
Buy a CF card reader that plugs into the USB or Firewire port. MUCH faster, more reliable, easier, less likely to screw up your camera, etc. It's easier to replace a $20 CF card than shortcircuiting a 1Ds or your brand new 5D Mark II!! (not that it's likely to ever happen, but plugging something into an electrical device like a camera is probably never a good thing.
When i put my CF card into my card reader, OS X says that it cannot read the card. Im downloading photos with image capture now ... then ill try to make the card reader working ..
Are you connecting it using FW or USB? I seem to remember I had issues accessing the cameras' personal functions using one or the other - it's been a while so I don't remember which one worked better.
As the other have said, get a card reader and forget about downloading straight from the camera. You'll never look back.
You need the camera hooked up to set the personal functions, but for downloading I use a card reader. The current Lexar USB2 SD/CF reader is plenty fast.
When your camera is on and plugged into the USB port(rear of PC not front), go to:
Start/ settings/ control panel/ system/ hardware/ device manager/
Make sure you don't have an exclamation mark next to the USB port.
If so, right click and choose "uninstall" and reboot.
If it's not showing a problem "uninstall" and reboot anyway.
It should re-install on reboot and load the correct drivers for the camera. If not, remove and re-install the software.
The instructions above work on almost any hosed install involving FW or USB with XP.
