Couldn't find my picture amongst them...otherwise +1
If you are still in Nagoya, I would recommend going to Osu in the evening - last time it was madly crowded.
But to be honest I find Osu as a bit of a tourist attraction.
If you walk around few parts of Sakae, you can find lots of interesting people..also, Canon Nagoya is around there (they are moving on 1st of Nov to Fushimi).
Here are few shots of mine. Nothing special though..

As the title indicates these were all taken in Osu. Osu is a nice place for street shots like this for sure! when I 1st got here about 25 years ago it was good too! So you're in Nagoya now? You live here? Where at?

Osu is the Akihabara of Nagoya. I don't see any tourists but there sure are allot of shoppers. It's always crouded on weekends as everyone spills out onto the streets to replenish their blank CD supply or look at whatever gear they heard about during the week. There's also a bunch of trendy fashion shops around there so you have all the young girly-girls out window shopping and stampeding the sales racks.

Yup, yup. Canon is moving tho huh? I didn't know that.

Those are pretty good! Thanks for sharing man! I took a bunch kinda like that and then did a super-quick near-portraiture-style crop for each before scaling them down in order to get these here.
I see you're shooting with the Canon EOS Kiss Digital N... How you liking that?

I've never seen this many pictures - or even 1/4 as many - in one post.
The guys with slow connections will be annoyed.
<annoyed.
You got a lot of interesting people.
I want to go to Nagoya. They have a nice street racing scene there.

Yupps. I am in Osu every Wednesday, (un)fortunately for Me (alt. Osu) it's a day off, and about half the shops are closed, so I tend to walk around Sake and Fushimi most of the time. I live south of Nagoya, but am commuting to and from Japanese classes and club nights.

Haha, very true. I myself drool over the Air Gun and scale model selections. Book shops are a sheer joy! I was looking for a photo of a Lolita Goth (fashion style) girls amongst the posted shots, but probably not close enough. Well, I suppose I take on this task, as they are hard to miss..
First time in Osu is a jaw dropping experience, but since I moved here I find it a tad boring (maybe because I am there on Wednesdays?).
Ever since the World Expo there been influx of "gaijins" to Nagoya and today you can meet few on a daily basis. When I came to Nagoya for the first time in 2000, I was stared at wherever I went. Not complaining though, as I find it rather flattering.
Also, not sure about now, but before lots of Yakuza lived around there. My female friend's schoolmate's family was forced to move city because by "sillyness" he stole a bicycle wich belonged to a son of a Yakuza boss...
Yup, yup. Canon is moving tho huh? I didn't know that.
They are moving to Fushimi. I left my camera for service about a week ago and they have a notice posted + they notify all customers about the move.
Think new office will be near Kokusai Centre, but I am not too sure.

Thank you. I still feel a bit uneasy to shoot people - Japanese has positive reaction to someone taking their photo most of the time as opposed to Europe where one can get in a tight spot taking a street candid, as I experienced myself few times. Call it a trauma, will you?...hehehe

It''s a good camera. Neither rubbish nor top dog. "It does exactly what it says on the tin" - so to speak. I am still puzzled as if it is me who makes 8/10 shots soft or a camera. According to Canon there is nothing wrong with IQ, so it must be me then...
Waiting to get my hands on a 5D MkII but finances are tight atm without a job.
Are you satisfied with KM you are shooting now, or you plan to go Canon/Nikon?
Shots look great for that matter..
Speaking of 5D MkII, are you going to Canon presentation in Nagoya in November?
There might be a slim chance of playing around with it, if you make it past 500000000000 queuing otaku...hahaha

I think they do some Highway stuff there. I think thats Nagoya that I'm thinking of.
Jerren, there is racing going on all over Japan as far as I know, however it's hardly legal.
I don't have problem with that as long as they stay away from my home at night...heheh.
The buggers break sound barrier (dB and speed wise).
However, police does have issues with that, and foreigners are first to attract unwanted attention...
Another problem is that it is hard to break into a closed group of Japanese. It takes time and patience.
Nagoya is a great city and I definitely think you should come over, but be careful not to get arrested...

A bridge camera with a fairly high quality non-interchangeable lens and a tiny little 2/3-inch interlaced primary-color 8.3mp CCD sensor. I'm using it after selling my D2X system (7 or 8 months ago) while I wait for the new model leap-frogging from all the various vendors to settle down a bit so I can decide what to get.
The A2 lens BTW, is a 28-200mm f/2.8/3.2 macro zoom apochromatic design consisting of 16 elements in 13 groups, including two AD (anomalous dispersion) glass elements and two aspheric surfaces. It's called the "GT" and the only bummer of course is that it's welded on front of the camera.

The camera sure produces good images. Does it do RAW or JPEG/TIFF only?
Around Christmas can be good idea to go shopping. I am sure you been browsing Biccamera though as I do..
I wish I bought SLR earlier...regret so badly that I didn't snap enough folks around Nagoya since my first visits. Could be nice to look back and compare...

Its on 22nd of November at Kokusai Centre. Found details at the Canon JP site at the time of 5D MkII press release.

There are 4 day events in Tokyo at Canon S Tower, but there is no chance I make it there. If you do, please do tell how it was.

Sure, anytime at all. Sounds like a bunch of fun!

You're probably right about the timing.
The A2 does a 12bit RAW which is all I shoot it in. If it had interchangeable lenses and a sensor something around the size of a 4/3rds I'd just keep it for another few years. It's more fun to shoot than my D2x was. That's the thing with these bridge cameras - they pack in a bunch of high-end dSLR features so they're easy to get hooked on.
The A2 for example has:
JPG, TIFF, RAW, Movie, Times Lapse 30s ~ 60m intervals to size of card.
And you can mix and match so maybe a Jpeg at 1600x1200 and a RAW at the full 3264x2448 etc.
...wireless flash, a PC (off camera flash) connector, built-in flash, and hot-shoe.
...3D tracking that is easily as good or maybe better than the D2x.
...Antishake (IS) better than most $3000 dollar lenses!
...a 1 million pixel EVF (which I like better than an OVF coming from the pro-video world!) with wysiwyg DOF preview from about 2sec. exposures on up and a low-light gain boost almost as good as my night goggle$. The EVF tilts up and down with about 95û of swing which is very useful!
...manual zoom, manual focus, and two thumb wheels for shooting in manual modes of whatever.
...voice memo, computer full function remote control for every function except zoom, zoom-in focusing like modern live-view dSLRs have, a flip-up-down LCD (but kinda small - NP, I never use the LCD - ever).
...mechanical buttons & knobs for just about every feature/function.
...battery compartment accessible while on a tripod.
...8 record/recall mode user presets
...64~800 ASA but only 64 and 100 are usable.
...Ultra light weight (compared to my D2x )
etc....
I wish I bought SLR earlier...regret so badly that I didn't snap enough folks around Nagoya since my first visits. Could be nice to look back and compare...

Lolmao! Very true. You should see the the brandy sauce on top of it...certainly gives you wrong ideas...hahah
My apologies..it seems as I am hijicking your thread..
Speaking of Nagoya people, I just realised that I have a complete gallery taken one night at a club in Tsurumae. Nothing pretentious.
