Great catpicture

Makes me want the 28 2 :P I have been thinking about getting a 25-40 somewhere f/2-ish AIS-prime too.

(yes, I'm a manual focus whore :P )

Ulrik, you will love the 105 f/2.5, as it has rounded aperture blades at 2.5!! I think you should get that one instead of the 1.8 (do you really need that extra stop? )

Hehe, ok? How is the bokeh on the 1.8 versus the 2.5? Any examples?

ummmmmm, 2.5 is wide open... sooooo.... wouldn't all lenses essentially have 'rounded blades' wide open?

and speed isn't the only reason to want a fast lens...

that being said... I have heard very good things about the 105 f2.5

I'll stick with my 105 DC though

Sam, sweet looking rig! Did the lens mount without modification (filing off tabs etc)?

cheers

No, not all lenses have rounded aperture blades even wide open. Check for yourself

I've heard and seen some very good things about that 105 DC

I'll stick to my 105 f/2.5 tho it was considerably cheaper than the 105 DC is

No, the lens had to be modified with about a 1 1/2 inch stretch of the mount having to be ground down.

Another vote for the 105mm f2.5. I have the 85L and the 105mm holds on its own on my 1Ds. Not to mention that it doesn't weight a ton, it has a nice hood and you can shoot around the streets without being spotted immediately.

Can I post a film shot taken with a really old film camera and old manual focus lens?

Shot @f2 with 35 f/1.4 using Nikkormat FT3 on velvia 100:

I don't see anything wrong with that!!

I'm just interested in seeing those MF lenses in all their glory

thanks for posting this one... I'm actually thinking of tracking down a 35mm f1.4 next, so if you have any more, please share!!

Sorry these aren't too artsy, but I was able to experiment at the last Flyball tournament since I was only competing and got some nice shots with the Nikkor-S 50mm f/1.4...

I think the above photos are an answer to people whining about too few focusing points and AF tracking on camera bodies.

Hey, I'm one of those whiners! I use AF extensively for some stuff, but manual focus (or pre-focusing with One Shot) for others. It really just depends on what I'm shooting, what I'm going for and what my customers are expecting. With this technique you're talking one photo per dog. Some of the shots I do with AF I can get a handful of good shots per run per dog.
