And on the speculations of the price drop. With the Yen being strong it's severely hurting the japanese market in price margins when selling to the US. more likely a price increase than major drop (of course in the end it really depends on what their profit margin predictions were in the first place)

Eh... all this speculation. I for one don't see anything like this happening, Canon has always been very good about bringing their product quickly to market and I don't see this time as an exception.

I agree to a point...However, MKIII's were very hard to find for several months.
All in all, Canon over the years have definitely been better at getting products to market/demand than many other popular makers.

I wrote the above on Friday, today I called my dealer and he said that the Canon rep did show up on Saturday but he did not give them a firm date but they now believe they won't be getting their first copies of this camera until late November.

My dealer here in Melbourne Australia called and said it was expected at the end of November, and the price wold be AU$4400-4500. (Given they've assured me it would be $4K based on my order date, I don't know what that really means for me. We'll see, I guess.)
