Yeah @_ it's crazy for me because i'm doing a system/brand jump. I ordered 2 lenses that will be here next week 24-70 and 70-200L and they will be staring at me. And my wallet will be missing that $$ until I sell off my current gear

I hope a large retailer like BH will have plenty of these in stock. I'm holding off until i know for sure that there arn't any bundle rebates on the 5DII and lenses. We'll see.

Just talked to my dealer and they said they expect the camera by the end of this month. They said that Canon has been very good in keeping with what they tell the dealers and so they really do expect them on time. Some dealers may be getting them earlier so I can see where around the middle of the month is not far fetched.

My French dealer expects them late November at the earliest (for reference, he got his 50Ds at the same time as the US did). He also indicated that the backlog is, huge. He expects some 80% of his 5D customers to upgrade, which is definitely not the case with, for example 50D or D90. He is also part of a purchasing co-op of a couple of hundred stores, and his experience is in line with his colleagues'. Meaning, if you haven't ordered your 5D2 already, you are getting a 2009 model.

I compared IQ from 40D, 50D and 5D. Though 50D is better than 40D, it is inferior to 5D, so I decided to pre-order a 5D2. It was a quick test, and I did not try low-light situations.

lucky you guys, i pre-ordered from beach camera about a week after the release on 17, but they canceled my order before few days saying item no longer available. anybody else got his order canceled by beach camera?
btw, i sent them angry message stating how come its no longer available when its pre-order. they said they will call me to resolve the problem, i wonder how!!

Looks like people that ordered from B&H and other retailers that observe Jewish holidays will have to wait a bit longer. Succot runs from 10/13 - 10/22 so B&H will be closed.

I pre-ordered from Adorama on Sept. 23. They have no clue when the 5D Mark IIs will actually get in. I've asked the CPS/NPS sales guy twice. October 15th will probably or Early November will probably be for those who ordered the very first few hours it was available.
For people like me, I'm just going to make a guess of early to mid December. I would be more then happy if my guess is wrong. Earlier the better.
I highly doubt a bundle rebate for this camera unless you want to wait till winter 09. But at the same time, best wishes, lilboi, I hope you get a discount. I wouldn't be surprised if there was maybe $100 off on the EOS 50D...what do you guys think?

My information isn't much different than the above: my business buys a lot of gear and I have standing orders at a couple of large retailers that automatically puts me on the list for any new releases. I got all my 50D orders filled a week ago with no problems but both retailers have called to tell me I'll get 1 copy (of 6 ordered) from their first batch of 5DIIs - since they can't fill their reservation list their limiting to 1 per customer, which is fair.
One went into a bit more detail: they ordered 150 copies and will be getting 25 in 2-3 weeks, and have been told it will be 6 weeks at least after the first shipment before they get the rest. They put another order in for 150 and where told that will be after the first of the year at best.
The part I'm not certain I believe, sounds like BS, but might be true, is that there is an outside manufacturer for certain parts (not sensor) that is not able to supply the quantity they promised to Canon.
