yes, many people have. Its the same AF system in the 5D. Exactly the same.
So? What was so bad about it? If you want to focus on moving things, my goodness, get another camera. The 5d could be MF for all I care, for what it's intended for.

My French retailer has placed his order weeks ago for his lot of 5D2s, and the price was and is definite, and confirmed in writing, as is absolutely SOP. I cannot imagine that US retailers take firm orders that are not backed by Canon, but who knows?

LoL Who are the ones that have tested the AF? Show me the links?
And dont give me speculative post of people who handled in the store for 10 minutes.
Ascough mentions he thinks the AF is fast. If a new chip is controlling the AF system (who knows if this is true yet) then it's not exactly the same. He mentioned it only in his first day of using it so who knows but here is a quote "The camera focused easily and accurately, and out of 120 images, I have none that are out of focus."
BTW 5d MK II Manuals are up!!! and the Raws are up on akihabaranews!!!

Talked with my dealer who talked with Canon today. They had originally expected to have the camera by the end of this month, Canon told them it will be the middle of November now.

Spoke to my local dealer today (I have one on order with them). I was looking for some status. The Canon rep will be in their "morning meeting" tomorrow and he will know more afterward. They don't have a "firm" price even yet.

Here is some real information....
Canon has yet to give the retailers the real pricing info yet. Without the real pricing info, they are not yet orderable. I find it very humorous that people are spreading rumors that the cameras are shipping this month when they are not even orderable yet by the retailers. The official word from Canon is that they will be shipping in Late November. If that changes, I will post an update. This is coming directly from canon, not someone's uncle's brother's, barber/olympian, who happens to have found a piece of paper in a dumpster.
Japanese Yen has dropped 24% since Sept 23rd. I really hope they are not going to raise the price by 24%! I have a receipt from my store with a price minus deposit. I hope they will honor that price.

Canon USA sets the pricing. Things fluctuate but usually you won't see prices fluctuate too much with them. They estimate, set the price (lay the bait!) and wait.

That's great news!
Great news isn't always true news. For example, I could tell you that worms are made of chocolate, and are quite tasty. That's great news!

This should work the other way. Since Canon presumably does their business in yen they will get more yen for the same number of US dollars actually increasing their profits in yen. So there is no reason to think that the price will rise in US dollars and not in most currencies unless the value of your currency has dropped further than the yen. Here in Canada our dollar has dropped about 22% or about the same as the Japanese yen, so I expect the prices to hold steady.

I called Canoga Camera the other day, and they said anyone that tells you an "official" date is lying. Another vendor (Pictureline, in UT), said they're hopeful for stock right after Thanksgiving.
Based on past reliability, it is generally good to take Ben's word to release dates/rebates/etc etc at face value. His statement is consistent with what my few checks around have come up with. Another month of speculation to look forward to.

My local camera shop in Denver, Colorado said they don't expect any shipments until the end of November, possibly the beginning of November. $2,700USD is the price (at least for that place).

When I contacted Adorama, they said based upon past deliveries from Canon for a new product, they receive about 100 every two weeks until world wide fulfillment is complete. They said, that if shipment is received by mid-November, that given my position in the list (around 500), I wouldn't receive it until after Christmas. Adorama's wait list is greater than 1000 and I suspect that is true for all the major on-line retailers.
Based on what Ben Horne is saying and what I've found - those who pre-ordered after Friday Sep. 19, 2008, should not expect to see their 5DMkII until late January.
Fortunately, I'm in the top 10 of my local camera shop, but they usually charge more than full price and sales tax. In my case this could be around $400 and the question is it worth it or wait until Adorama can fulfill?

Your local shop might only get 1 or 2 at a time though....
