Currencies are indeed doing funky things. The Japanese Yen has been gaining some strength against the USD. However, its been gaining a LOT more strength against other currencies such as the Euro, Canadian Dollar and Australian Dollar. I wouldn't be surprised if Canon raised prices in these markets if their currencies stay at the current low level.

I called up Adorama too. Also asked them why they gave out the date of the 18th. The guy promised me (actually same person I talked to , to get the original info) that it was the date Canon have given them .. He was disappointed too as he had ordered one - from another store though.
Wolf Camera my info came from a store employee calling up their main warehouse line and going through some managers trying to get a solid SKU for my preorder.
While they 100% could have been lying to get the sale, the fact that they both said the same date and one was from a distribution warehouse I believed it much more. Anyways lets all hope it comes soon. Jeff Ascough seems to love his beta model

If I get the chance, as I imagine many others will, I'll ask the Canon reps at PPE in NYC this weekend; though of course, sometimes these workers are nothing more than hirees out of a local events company and don't really know anything.

Not surprising that Canon might after all cancel the 5DII shipment due to the dollar fluctuation, user complain on AF module, and the software delay.
Maybe they might decide on a 3D and let the 5D be history.
And by the time they announce the release of the 3D, Nikon, Pentax and Sony will be shipping their 24MP prosumer cameras, and they might shelf the 3D and announce the 1DIV. He.he.he.
For those who have sold their 5D waiting for the latest 5DII, don't worry you still will have the latest...but only have to wait another 1.. or 2.. or maybe 3 years that's all.
And for those who have not sold their camera for this upgrade, don't worry it still taking good pictures.

Has there been even one person that has actually touched the 5d mark II yet bashed the AF? Seems like a lot of people are just going what they see loosely on a paper spec which isn't even to clear

yes, many people have. Its the same AF system in the 5D. Exactly the same.

Except nobody knows what influence a change of processor may make to AF. Is it DIGIC IV, or another dedicated one, and if it is the latter, will it be the same as in the 5D? Personally, considering how long 3 years are in the semi-conductor world, I vote that the processor will be faster, which may be a way for Canon to execute better software even if the points system is the same. But the fact is that nobody knows.

Here is some real information....
Canon has yet to give the retailers the real pricing info yet. Without the real pricing info, they are not yet orderable. I find it very humorous that people are spreading rumors that the cameras are shipping this month when they are not even orderable yet by the retailers. The official word from Canon is that they will be shipping in Late November. If that changes, I will post an update. This is coming directly from canon, not someone's uncle's brother's, barber/olympian, who happens to have found a piece of paper in a dumpster.
