You can use Live.com cashback to order... and get discount. Adorama offers 3% and JR offers 6%. 6% of $3500 is $210
The last time I used the 25% cashback on my Ebay purchases I got $610 back. Microsoft pays you after 60 days. I've already received the money in my PayPal account.

Cold day in hell before I'd preorder a camera. I'll let you beta testers pay through the nose for the Xmas rush and report back on any issues. I'm waiting until PMA, by which time 5D II will be freely available, probably a bit cheaper, software will fully support it from third party (imagine having to use DPP - ugh) and firmware will have been released.
I don't recall any early adopters expressing regrets about buying the 5D, even though the price came down later. Nor about buying the 20D, 30D, or 40D for that matter. I do recall late adopters expressing regrets about buying cameras shortly before a new model was released, even though they saved some money. Time keeps on ticking. You can't get it back. Some day the 5D Mk II will be considered a miserable piece of junk, but this is its time, so if you get one now, have ___fun.
Nope.
Fool me once...over and over again (1D3).
But this time Canon has something to prove (at least to me).
I see there are many here who haven't lost faith in new releases from Canon...
-Here's hoping you all get a truly fantastic camera that is entirely free of unhappy surprises. I sincerely hope it's GREAT.
Every 13 minutes of 1080p video = 4GB... so your 8gb can shoot about 26 minutes of video, assuming you don't take any pictures.
Unfortunately 32gb cards are still very expensive right now, as well as 16gb udma cards. 8gb udma and 16gb standard cards seems to have hit the pricing sweet spot... I think I'd go with a 16gb standard extreme 3 at this point.

Thanks for that! I just picked up 2 5D Mark 2's That's about $323 back.
Well, I was not interested in the first instance, until I read a review on the video, now I am interested again.
There will be a 'professional' choice soon enough between a video supplying news quality grabs ~ this quality is already pretty neat from existing equipment which is not designed specifically for this purpose And/OR a stills camera providing superior web quality video.
So, I see myself trying this out, I have dabbled in video and carrying both cameras was not comfortable for me. Video is not a current requirement, so I've time, if I get an offer on my 5D maybe, I'll upgrade sooner.
The length of video is probably already TOO long at 15 mins for the applications that I have in mind anyway.
I doubt that recording your holiday on the new 5DMKII would be recommended anyway.

Well we went 3 years between updates, so waiting 5 months won't put me at the end of the curve.
