Forget the 50D, I'm getting myself a 34D!!! Seriously, I find no more use for the 1.6x crop cameras anymore. I´m getting rid of the 40D and getting the 5D Mark II since it has 90% of what I need it for as a backup, plus I want to make FULL use of my lenses, not crippling it because of the crop factor.

Does B&H charge your card when you order or when it ships?
I believe vendors aren't supposed to do it until it ships, but then...
It's not about "supposed to" - it's normal business practices, not a rule or law.
Having that said, when BH used to take pre-orders, they would charge you immediately and ship it whenever they got it. AFAIK they don't do pre-orders anymore, so the whole point is somewhat moot.
I made a deposit as soon as it was announced. My dealer told me yesterday that I will likely get the first one sold to a consumer in Canada. Hopefully Canon Canada is wrong with their late November release date.
If I was making more money from photographs, or didn't just have half a year off of work, I'd be on the pre-order. Since I won't be able to just materialize 2700 bucks, I'll probably save and buy a 5d1.
I've got a few more things I've got to buy yet too, before I can really start into shooting weddings.
full frame camera for wider shooting in chapels and such
2 more flashes
16-35
more cf
rechargable battery packs for the flashes
other odds and ends.
I'm very happy with the 5d2's specs, and maybe next year, I'll look into one, however for now the best upgrade for me would be a 5d1
If anyone is on a list and is having second thoughts, I'd be glad to take your spot A few extra jobs have come up and now it will actually pay itself off in 2 shoots. That or I can't rent a 1Ds III, which I'd really rather not, haha.
