Originally I thought about making a pic with a bottle of wine, a candle and a condom, combining two ideas in previously posted WA's this week. However, looking at one stunning landscape picture I decided to take a different route.
PP in this pic was only crop. I have not altered the colours in any way (AWB, RAW converted to JPEG) and I have no idea why it came out that way, it certainly did not look like this. It was an ordinary sunset, light blue sky, white clouds, yellow sun. Nevertheless, I like it a lot. I hope you will too.
BTW, if anyone has an idea why they came out this way, please educate me.
Ill have one of these for the wall please.

Ps Im no expert but i think i read somewhere that if you use AWB with a sunset it can change the colour due to the predominence of the particular sunset hue.
Now if i only understood that

I'd think the camera white balance did the color. Sunset color is always going to be on the red side of the spectrum regardless of how the eye sees it. Though I May be wrong!

I took a guess earlier about the white balence. Have looked into it a little more. When we use AWB the camera adjusts so that no one colour predominates.
If theres is a lot of one colour, that can fool the auto white balance function into assuming that the light has a lot of that color in it. This can result in an incorrect white balance and a color cast.
A sunset is an example. Auto white balance looks at this and corrects for the warm color of the sunset light. This would produce an image with less saturated colors or colors that were cooler than you would have seen.
Mark, thank you very much for your explanation but I must admit I am still a bit puzzled. It's not the first time I shot sunset (with the with this 40D, with AWB, with RAW) and it never came out that way.

Have you gone back to the RAW image and changed the colour temperature to about 6500k. If this brings back what you saw in reality then it was the AWB. If it doesnt then im not sure, but you get a great picture to keep
