I heard it will punch you in the nuts if you complain about it.
Only on a good day, since they skimped on QC most of them are grumpy SOBs to start with and have a kick like a mule. Undocumented feature though or design flaw whichever way you wish to look at it...
It has a snob mode too which gives you an electric shock each time you use a lens that hasn't gained a snob award. Actually it is dual mode, Canon or Third party lenses.
Using something like a 50/1.8 will give you a mild shock, but a 1.4 will leave some permanent scarring. Only for the very bold or very snobbish.
Whatever specs it has, someone will complain.
38MP sensor? Some will bitch that it's diffraction limited and useless. Others will say it isn't enough (after all, that's only the 50D's pixel density and therefore no additional reach for "birding").
45-point AF? Some will whine that it would have been cheaper to use only 21 points. Others will complain that it isn't the same as whatever is in the current 1D-series AF, or it doesn't work at f/11.
8 FPS? That fills our memory cards too fast. Or wears out the shutter too fast. Others want 12 FPS.
Waterproof to 660' depth? The controls are too stiff to operate, or they're too small to operate with diver's gloves. Or you can't change lenses underwater.
What, it doesn't float? Bummer, I'm gonna switch to...
The bottom line is there will always be a small minority of whining crybabies who take it as a personl insult that Canon (or Nikon, or Sony, or...) didn't deliver the exact specs they wanted for the price of a disposable P&S film camera.
I say Canon won't do more than 30MP. 21-30mp is WAY more than enough for 90% of all people. Now that they have an ability to produce high MP camera, they'll start focusing on image quality
so, next 5D III will have:
28MP with quality rivaling at least 2006 digital backs models...
Dual Card Slots (they need to start listening!)
FF
Dual Core Digic V
28+11 focusing points and MUCH improved AF
ISO 50-12,800 with options to go 25600 and 51200
6fps
Up to 20 RAW files or 200 Large Jpegs in burst mode, This is due to extra 2GB RAM and dual core Digic V
weatherseal
Wireless flash transmitter
Improved Battery to take up to 2,000 images
In-camera IS
NO on board flash or direct prints buttons(geez!!)
And your point is...
you may notice a slight bit of satire after watching the 5d II thread grow to 100 PAGES I felt we might as well get a start on the 5d III
With a serious note: I think it is hard to tell what it will bring.. There will be advances in memory, processors, flash, wireless, etc, in the next two years that we can hardly fathom. This is what keeps it so exciting
Honestly, I'd like to see:
- Built in Wifi-N+ for photo transfer (and video streaming? hmm?)
- 10+fps, especially with UDMA cards
- Good AF assist beam
